Purpose of Job
  • To deliver specific fitness programmes and activities as directed by the Sport and Active Recreation Division
  • To give the opportunity for all participants to develop their potential to the highest possible standard.
  • To encourage the development of fitness throughout the city.

Responsibilities
1. To deliver sessions in a professional manner, abiding by the City Council and National Governing Body Codes of Conduct.
2. To contribute to a fun and enjoyable experience for all participants.
3. To undertake administrative tasks in connection with programmes of work. i.e. Class Registers, Monitoring and Evaluation forms.
4. To carry out the above duties in compliance with Council policies including Equal Opportunities, Child Protection and Health and Safety.
5. To undertake other duties as required, commensurate with the grade of the post.
Relationships
The postholder will be required to maintain effective relationships with colleagues, staff, the City Development directorate, internal and external agencies, members of the public

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

The post is currently based at ***** but may thereafter be located within the City boundary.
*****has access by stairs and lift and is accessible by disabled persons to the ground floor by a portable ramp on request
Leeds City Council operates a non-smoking policy.
Economic conditions
Grade:
Annual Leave: / 20 days per annum rising to 25 days per annum after 5 years continuous local government service, plus 8 statutory holidays and 3 concessionary days (pro rata for part time working.)

PROSPECTS
Promotion
Whilst there is no automatic progression to any more senior posts, opportunities do exist for advancement and promotion, dependent upon normal staff movements and on the capabilities of the individual post holder.
Training
Sport and Active Recreation encourages training both “in-house” and external to meet the needs of the individual and of the Department.

Hold a current and valid fitness qualification i.e. Level 2 Exercise to Music
Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Health and Safety guidelines.
