Lecturer in Early Years (Band 2)

Circa £28,900 – 35,500

We are looking for aLecturer in Early Years to work in the Faculty of Health and Education. You will have extensive experience of teaching and assessing on childhood studies and early years education courses. Applicants will have up to date knowledge of apprenticeships and delivery frameworks and experience of leading courses and developing curriculum. Proven record of building long term business relationships as well as vocational sector specific knowledge is essential.

You should have a PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent as well as a degree or vocational qualification such as BA Education Psychology/BA Early Years/BA Primary Education/EYPS.Assessor Award such as TAQA or equivalent is also essential. Evidence of quality assurance in education i.e. OFSTED and ALI as well as experience of pastoral support and guidance for learners are essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Lecturer in Early Years (Band 2)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Early Years

LOCATION: Colchester

SALARY:Salary points 30-37

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To undertake teaching and other duties associated with the role of a Band 2 Lecturer. A specific teaching programme and areas of responsibility will be identified depending upon qualifications and experience. A Band 2 Lecturer, in addition to a comprehensive teaching role will have permanent course leadership responsibilities for the apprenticeship programme in Early Years and Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. This could be responsibility for a complex course with a large number of students or responsibility for a number of smaller courses with fewer students, in each case it will require liaising with a number of lecturers and other staff who support the delivery of the courses.

MAIN TASKS:

  1. Comprehensive teaching responsibilities: designing schemes of work, assessing, preparation, delivery, marking, student interviewing/guidance, individual student tutoring and marketing/promoting courses/attending Open/Schools events.
  2. Significant course leadership including related pastoral, administrative and development e.g. developing new courses
  3. Permanent additional responsibilities, including employer engagement, assessing in the workplace and work placement organisation and visiting.
  1. Participating in the annual evaluation procedures and processes and communicating outcomes to senior colleagues as required.
  1. Undertaking such other duties as may be required by or on behalf of the Colchester Institute provided that they are consistent with the nature of the post.
