The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

O Lord our God, we give you thanks

for the grace that is at work in us

through the gift of our baptism—

the sign of your threefold name,

the communion of your faithful people,

the promise of your glorious realm.

By the power of your Holy Spirit,

poured out upon us in baptism,

let your grace and peace grow in us,

until we gather at your heavenly throne

to give you thanks and praise forever;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Confession and Pardon

At the baptismal font:

It is only by the power of God

that we are able to stand against evil.

Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sin.

Holy, triune God, we confess

that we have not lived for your glory.

You came to love and save the world

but we condemn others in your name.

You send us out to tell good news

but we hide from our calling in fear.

Forgive us, God of grace.

Give us new life in your Spirit

so that we may serve you faithfully

and live as your beloved children;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lifting water from the font:

Now stand firm in your faith,

covered by the saving grace of God

and ready to proclaim the gospel of peace.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Thanks be to God.

Affirmation of Faith

Time after Pentecost, Trinity Sunday

Jesus Christ is God with humankind.

He is the eternal Son of the Father,

who became human and lived among us

to fulfill the work of reconciliation.

He is present in the church

by the power of the Holy Spirit

to continue and complete his mission.

This work of God,

the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

is the foundation of all confessional statements

about God, humanity, and the world.

Therefore, the church calls all people

to be reconciled to God and to one another.

Adapted from the Confession of 1967, 9.07

Prayers of the People

In the communion of the Holy Spirit,

we call on the name of the Lord, saying:

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for the church . . .

As you have claimed us by water and the Spirit,

send us forth in the name of Jesus

to proclaim your great love for the world.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for the world . . .

Touch our world with healing, and wash it clean

from all violence, pollution, and corruption,

that the whole earth may be full of your glory.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for this community . . .

Give us strength and bless us with your peace,

so that all may know the beauty of your presence

and glorify your holy name.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for loved ones . . .

Deliver them from captivity to death and fear,

embrace them as your beloved children,

and turn all their suffering into glory.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

Gracious God, continue to pour out your power

in the church, in the world, and in our daily lives,

so all will know that you are at work among us;

through Jesus Christ, our living Lord. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith

Time after Pentecost

The life, death, resurrection,

and promised coming of Jesus Christ

has set the pattern for the church’s mission.

His human life involves the church

in the common life of all people.

His service to men and women

commits the church

to work for every form of human well-being.

His suffering makes the church sensitive

to all human suffering

so that it sees the face of Christ

in the faces of persons in every kind of need.

His crucifixion discloses to the church

God’s judgment on the inhumanity

that marks human relations,

and the awful consequences

of the church’s own complicity in injustice.

In the power of the risen Christ

and the hope of his coming,

the church sees the promise

of God’s renewal of human life in society

and of God’s victory over all wrong.

The church follows this pattern

in the form of its life

and in the method of its action.

So to live and serve

is to confess Christ as Lord.

Prayers of the People

In the communion of the Holy Spirit,

we call on the name of the Lord, saying:

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for the church . . .

Let the life of Christ be visible in our lives
so all will know the light of your glory
and praise Jesus Christ our Lord.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for the world . . .

Liberate those who are oppressed

so they may enjoy the freedom

and fullness of life that is found in you.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for this community . . .

Strengthen us to feed those who are hungry,

offer help and healing to those who suffer,

and seek the common good in all things.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

We pray for loved ones . . .

Comfort those who are afflicted,

deliver those who are persecuted,

lift up those who are struck down.

By your Spirit, O God, transform our lives.

Gracious God, continue to pour out your power

in the church, in the world, and in our daily lives,
