Summer Camp

The Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation will be providing a safe, educational and fun summer camp at David Brewer Elementary. This program is licensed through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Our 11 week program, starting May 27-August 8, 2014will provide care from 6:30am-6:00pm.

(Children eligible for the program are children that have completed kindergarten-6th grade as of May 2014)

The Horizon Kids program will consist of a daily routine that will be followed byour site directors, lead instructors and assistant instructors. All staff will be trained in First Aid/CPR, knowledgeableinsigns and symptoms of illness and all types of child abuse. The summercamp will give your child the opportunity to engage in board games, physical activities in the gym, arts and crafts, computer time, outside activities, socialization with peers and weekly field trips. The Summer Food Service Program will run June 2-July 25. The children may participate in the FREE breakfast and FREElunch program or they may bring a lunch/drink. This food program is open to ALL children, you do not have to qualify for the food program to receive a FREE breakfast and/or FREE lunch. The Horizon Kids program will provide an afternoon snack. The first week of camp, July 3rd and the last two weeks of camp, participants will need to bring a lunch and drink because the Summer Food Service Program will not be in session. The Horizon Kids program will provide a morning snack and afternoon snack during the days the Summer Food Service Program is not in session. Children may NOT bring their own snacks.

Parents must purchase a summer pool pass or punch card if your child will be attending on swim days (M/W/F). You may purchase the pass or punch card at the Wollman Aquatic Center, N 13th & Shawnee, 682-7946(SWIM). Your child must be with you to have their picture taken for the pass. Resident prices are: individual season pass: $50.00, 10-punch pass: $35.00 and daily admission: $4.00.

Parent orientation will be Tuesday, May20,7:00pm at David Brewer Elementary in the library.

Fees will not be prorated for holidays, child illnesses, behavior/termination, program closures, etc.

Fees are subject to change without notice.

No refunds will be given.

The Horizon Kids Program accepts financial assistance through the Leavenworth Department of Children and Families (DCF). Contact the Leavenworth DCF office to see if you qualify for assistance at 913-680-2200. Our provider number is C844697.

Lunches MUST be sent in an insulated reusable bag with a frozen ice pack.(Health Department Regulation)
