ATTENDANCE POLICY

STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES! (see calendar).

GRADING (all grades will be posted on GRADEBOOK)

·  Daily Class Participation

·  Performance and rehearsal attendance and participation

·  Written Skills tests

·  Vocal Assessments (see Vocal Music Performance Assignment Evaluation Form)

PERFORMANCES are ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES, and therefore GRADED ACTIVITIES.

·  Any student who has an unexcused absence from a performance will receive a grade of ‘zero’, and may not be allowed to continue to participate in the RUCKEL CHORUS.

·  The only excused absence from a performance would be death in the family, or personal illness with a doctor’s note. ANY OTHER SITUATION would require notice PRIOR TO the absence and excused by the director.

·  Prior to a concert or MPA, there most likely will be after school rehearsals to combine groups not in class together. You will be notified of these rehearsals well in advance of the date.

·  When CONFLICTS occur, school activities must take precedence over non-school activities. CHORUS IS A CO-CURRICULAR CLASS, and therefore a SCHOOL ACTIVITY. If a student is involved in more than one school activity, the faculty members in charge will help the parents and students work out an acceptable solution. COMMUNICATION is KEY!

·  A PERFORMANCE takes precedence over a NON SCHOOL EVENT or a practice.
