After School WAC: Cash or cheques payable to Seagry CE Primary School. For online payments, please contact the office for details. Please do not combine the two payments, thank you.

GOVERNOR OF THE MONTH- for June is Elaine Naughton.

ENVIRONMENTAL WEEK

We have had a very busy and exciting Environmental Week and would like to thank everyone for all their contributions and ideas which have helped make the week so successful. Our children have participated in a wide range of activities from digging, painting, planting to designing and making mosaics. We are looking forward to finishing the new garden and enjoying a new place where we can take time to reflect and enjoy our tranquillity and spiritual area.

NEXT WEEK (19th TO 23rd JUNE)

Next week Year 5 and 6 will be away at Hill House. Miss Tugwell and Mrs Edmondson will be accompanying them. Mrs Lock will be teaching the remaining children, assisted by Mrs Foster and Miss Reed. The children will be doing English and Maths activities in the mornings. In the afternoons we will be carrying on some of the themes from our environmental week through Science, Geography, French, Art and PE.

RESIDENTIAL

Our Year 5 and 6 children are looking forward to their residential at Hill House next week. Please make sure everything is labelled. If your child needs medication, please hand it to Mrs Searle on Monday morning and ensure it is labelled with their name and clear instructions. Don’t forget everyone will also need a packed lunch for the day. We will keep you updated during the week via Homecontact.

HOMEWORK

No new homework or spellings will be set next week for Corston Class and there will therefore be no spelling test next week. This week’s spellings will be tested on Friday 30th June. Please can those children who are not going to Hill House spend some time at home practising their lines or song lyrics for Wind in the Willows. There will be no homework club on Friday 23rd June.

ECO-SCHOOL

As part of our environmental week, we discussed becoming an “eco-school”. The children were very enthusiastic and we had 8 volunteers to join our inaugural Eco Council. Congratulations to Sophie, Ally, Libby, Gabby, Joey, Lexi, Eve and Tabitha who are our Eco Council representatives. They held their first meeting on Thursday and have carried out an environmental review of the school, looking at nine areas (Biodiversity, Energy, Global Citizenship, Healthy Living, Litter, School Grounds, Transport, Water and Waste). From this they will develop an Action Plan looking at the three most relevant areas for Seagry School. We hope to achieve the Eco-Schools Bronze Award by this time next year. We will keep you updated!

GROUND FORCE – TOMORROW

Thank you to everyone who came along to support Ground Force last weekend. We will be meeting again tomorrow morning from 9.30am and would once again welcome your help. We would also be very grateful for any donations of lavenders, hebes or any other type of shrubs please.

MRS ROWE

We are pleased to report that Mrs Rowe will be back with us on Monday 19th June.

LEAVERS’ HOODIES

Leavers hoodies have been ordered and we will let you know as soon as they arrive. Can we please remind you that there was no choice of colour, they are all navy blue, as per the original letter. Huge thanks to Mrs Claire Kennedy for co-ordinating this for us.

BIKEABILITY

Some of our children took part and completed their Bikeability course this week. Certificates will follow on return from next week’s residential.

GARDENING CLUB CANCELLED NEXT WEEK

As Mrs Edmondson will be away on residential next week, there will be no Gardening Club on Wednesday.
