- Along with this application please include a cover letter and sailing resume describing your sailing teaching/coaching experience. Also include in your resume any other teaching/coaching experience you may have outside the sailing world and anything else you think that pertains to your development as a Learning Facilitator/Evaluator.
- There are 3 phases to this process:
Stage 1- Your application and resume will be evaluated by the Ontario Sailing Selection Committee and compared to others
Stage 2- Only a select number will progress to this stage and will be contacted for an interview (applicants with the most experience will be given priority)
Stage 3- Select candidates from the interview stage will be forwarded to the selection committee for approval
- Please attach current copies of all your prerequisites and all relevant coaching certifications (eg LTS WS, LTR, Red, Orange etc).
- Prerequisites for the clinic are:
- Meet the minimum age requirement of 20 years old
- Have completed CANSail Fundamental Course or the former NCCP Intro to Competitions part A & B
- Been certified for a minimum of two (2) years as a CANSail or CYA White Sail & Bronze Sail (or equivalent combination of current and past coaching levels eg. Green & Blue) Instructorwith a minimum of 300 hours in each context and 1200 hours total
- Have up to date First Aid & CPR, Boat Rescue & PCOC certification
- Have completed the Sail Canada Long Term Sailor Development Online Module
The 2013 Learning Facilitator clinic will take place at the Buffalo Canoe Club, Ridgeway Ontario. The clinic will begin the evening of Friday May 10th and run through to Wednesday May 15th. The cost of the clinic is $800 plus HSTthis price includes accommodation and meals.
- Applicants are required to have attended the Fundamental Course either as a full participant (candidate), observer or assistant and be familiar with the material and contents of the course. Proof of participation should be provided by course LF and/or PSA prior to attending the LF clinic. If you have not previously taken a CANSail Fundamental course contact your PSA and arrange to observe or assist with a course prior to attending the LF clinic.
- There cannot be any provisions made for applicants that are unable to attend the entire clinic. Please do not apply if it is not possible for you to commit to participate in the entire clinic.
- Please also note a set number of sports will be designated for candidates from provinces outside of Ontario.
