Leading improvement, innovation and change: Connect to learn

Expressions of interest are invited from teachers, aspiring leaders, relieving executive and executive to participate in ‘Leading improvement, innovation and change: Connect to learn’ throughout 2017 facilitated by the Ultimo Educational Services team of Curriculum Advisors and Teacher Quality Advisors.

Change occurs in all contexts at school; the classroom, the year, the stage and the executive level.

Connect to learn aims to strengthen a culture of collaborative professional learning within and across schools focused on improving student outcomes. It will facilitate collaborative learning whilst using the action inquiry process to strengthen innovative practice, focused on improving student outcomes.

Educational Services role:

Curriculum Advisors and Teacher Quality Advisors will facilitate and support the project by providing deep professional learning opportunities and ongoing internal and external support throughout the implementation, innovation and impact phases of the project.

Participant’s role:

School teams will consist of a minimum of two participants, one of which needs to be an executive.

Teams will analyse and interrogate school data to identify a curriculum focus area tied to the School Plan and underpinned by the School Excellence Framework. Teams will collaboratively develop and implement an innovative action inquiry plan, specific to their school, to improve student outcomes. Participants will engage with evaluative analysis and reflection to monitor the impact of implementation.

Participants will collaboratively engage in deep professional learning in the areas of:

  • Data analysis to inform improvement
  • Evaluative thinking
  • Leadership styles
  • Coaching into practice
  • Leading effective professional learning in schools
  • What works best in action

Participants will be required to:

  • Attend all PL sessions (2 x whole days, 2 x afternoon sessions, 2 x adobe connect sessions, 3 x professional readings, in-school implementation, and a teach meet)
  • In consultation with the principal, use school assessment data to identify a focus area
  • Collaboratively develop an action inquiry plan
  • Conduct observations of teachers’ practice
  • Lead professional learning
  • Participate as part of a professional learning community
  • Complete and submit the attached Expression of Interest form

Other information:34 hours (non-registered)

Cost: $250 per participant Applications close: 4pm, 10March 2017

Successful applicants will be notified by 14 March 2017.
