PROJECT REPORT AND PRAYER UPDATES

cambodia national’s evangelism commissions,

the crossroads.

MInistry goals and objectives

The Crossroads was established in the end of year 2000. It is a ministry primarily reaching out to CambodianUniversity students with the vision of rebuilding this suffering nation, just as the Lord has rebuiltJerusalem in bible history. It began through a dormitory to meet the housing need of many students staying in its capital city for the purpose of higher education. In the same year, a church was found. The body of Christ seeks the visible expression of the Kingdom of God in every strata of life in Cambodia; what is more,to dedicate their lives to be servants and leaders of integrity, honor, and Christ like examples.Students at the Crossroads worship every evening as part of its program and are involved in the process of discipleship making.

future Leadership of cambodia

In the year 2002, the Crossroads began a University Christian Student Movement. It unifies 13 other Christian organizations ministering in Cambodia amongst the university students and since then, about 250-300 university students have meet quarterly for worship.

Piseth has been in the Crossroads since it started and has assumed leadership position in Crossroads. Inheriting a shy nature, he was discipled and equipped in bible teaching. By the grace of God, he soon discovered the gift of teaching which he has been using them diligently in serving the Lord through the Crossroads ministry.

He leads by example. Several new students in the Crossroads came to know the Lord through Piseth’s life. His submission to the Lord and non-compromise of the truth has been a blessing to the Crossroads. Gifted in music, Piseth was also trained and guided to lead Christian worship in a contextualized environment. In the last University Christian Student Movement worship last month, Piseth had led them to worship God in unity.

Piseth is a final year student at a local university. He will graduate in summer 2003 and is seeking the Lord to serve Him at the Crossroads full-time. We trust that his leadership will be a channel of blessing to many other Christians and non-believers in this nation. We pray that God will make him an Ezra of Cambodia.

leadership for the unreached

Mongtal[right] came to know the Lord at the CrossroadsCenter. His decision soon led him to spiritual maturity via daily worship, discipleship and leadership training. It is natural that his life is filled with the burden of the Cross.

Mongtal is passionate in bible study and is trained to lead bible study the inductive manner. From time to time the Crossroads would have evangelistic outreach where students like Mongtal would lead bible study in group. The Lord has used him to bring many students to the truth to make the important decision in their lives.

Last month, Mongtal conducted an evangelistic meeting at his village, some 10 hours journey from the Crossroads. He shared with them a 105 bible pictures from Genesis to Revelation to proclaim God’s work of redemption of the world. His passion for the lost is most commendable as it reflect his true commitment to the Lord.

Mongtal has a vision to begin a new ‘CrossroadsCenter’ in Kampong Thom, a province capital city where he is from. According to him, the new ‘Crossroads’ will be a dormitory to high school students in Kampong Thom. It will be a center for them to know the Lord and be discipled to serve the Lord. Mongtal will graduate this summer and will begin to pioneer and establish what the Lord has placed on him.

leadership for women

Seila Roath was born in one of the most remote place Cambodia. Always wanted to be self-righteous, she found life very disappointing and meaningless. She came to the Crossroads in 2002, and was subsequent baptized in the Lord. Her new life is so wonderful, literally as a light shine wherever she would go. She would invite her friends to the Crossroads weekly and prayerfully seek for opportunity to share Jesus with them. She would testify to her mentor that loving Jesus is just so natural for her. This is affirmed by all students.

Seila Roath is blessed with a scholarship by Japanese government to further her education in Osaka, Japan. She left the Crossroads reluctantly in April 2003, believing that she would return soon to join her brothers and sisters at the Crossroads to rebuild Cambodia.

leadership for multiplication

The Crossroads continues to take in new students from time to time. Students, while studying in university, would be equipped with the word of God daily. In July 2002, the first women dormitory in Cambodia was established. All students are involved in the process of discipleship making at the Crossroads. We now have about 30 students. Our vision is also to begin bible study groups in each university campus in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, that His follower would multiply.

Conclusion: We are thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness in blessing the ministry here. Thank you for your participation too. Indeed, unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Please uphold us in prayer, always.

In His name,

David Ooi.

Director of the Crossroads.
