Post:Leader of Continuous Professional Development
Responsible to:National Director of Academy Programmes
Post Holder:
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To work with the National Director of Academy Programmes in supporting all academies to fulfil the AET vision and values of being the Employer of Choice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Advice and Support
To work with the National Director of Academy Programmes to:
●support member academies in developing their own costed Professional Development & Training Plans leading to the design of customised programmes for each academy.
●support member academies in evaluating the impact of all CPD opportunities undertaken (internal, external and collaborative).
●provide coaching as required to support and extend the leadership of teaching and learning/ CPD.
●keep academy staff up to date with the latest development and training opportunities and associated research.
●advise key staff on the opportunities available for obtaining further professional qualifications.
●support member academies in providing appropriate NQT training and induction programmes.
Professional Development and Training Programmes
To work with the National Director of Academy Programmes to:
●support the member academy senior staff (responsible for PM), in ensuring that the Professional Development and Training programmes address both the needs of the individual and those of the AIP.
●develop/ source a “suite” of teaching and learning opportunities and resources that academy teaching staff can access to develop their classroom skills and competencies - teacher enhancement programmes (TEP).
●develop/ source a range of resources and programmes that all academy staff can access to meet their individual professional development needs.
●develop train the trainer programmes to build capacity within academy CPD teams.
●source, develop and deliver (where appropriate) higher level qualifications, including access to Masters courses.
Audit and Review
To work with the National Director of Academy Programmes to:
●align the systems used within the member Academies for evaluating the effectiveness of Professional Development and training programmes, activities and providers following completion of each course or programme
●regularly audit the impact of continuous professional development on staff and student outcomes.

There may be occasions when it will be necessary to cover other roles within the Academy or to work with other colleagues when there are peaks and pressing issues.
This job description may be varied to meet the changing demands of the Academy at the reasonable discretion of the CEO.
