Team Manager (The Drive, ASD Supported Living service)

Responsible toOperations Manager

Main Purpose of the role:

To provide line management and leadership to theaccommodation based service at The Drive, a supported living scheme for 5 residents based in Chingford

To ensure that The Driveworks withinAutism Accreditation standards.

In partnership with Senior Support Workers and Deputy Managers and under the direction of the Operation’s Manager, ensure the delivery of high quality person-centred services that provide genuine opportunities for independence for individuals on the autistic spectrum with behaviours that challenge.

Work with colleagues and the staff teamsto develop and plan all aspects of the service that promotesquality for both service users and staff and meet and exceedthe compliance requirements of relevantregulatory bodies such as the Care Quality Commission and Supporting People.

Service Management

  • Ensure that the service you manage is of the highest qualityand is delivered in a way that is aligned to Outward’s core values
  • To proactively and effectively manage any vacancies/voids within your service
  • Develop your service by identifying priorities,and plan how to deliver those aspects
  • Positively and effectively manage change, making sure that plans are owned by yourself and others and are implemented in your area of responsibility
  • Ensure the on-going financial viability of your service, and ensure that it is managed efficiently and within the budget
  • Take part in theon-callsystem
  • Innovate and develop new approaches to service delivery whilst appropriately managing risk
  • Work in partnership with the ASD Operations Manager to reconfigure services where necessary – identifying where services are no longer meeting the needs of our service users and project manage the change
  • To ensure Incident/SOVA forms are completed correctly, that all appropriate actions have been taken, and keep the Operations Manager informed of any serious incidents, SOVA’s, hospital admissions and deaths
  • To complete the Management performance report in a timely manner on a monthly basis
  • To complete the payroll information on time every month ensuring all changes are communicated to relevant others in good time.
  • To ensure that the petty cash in the services is audited, checked and returned on a monthly basis
  • To take responsibility in reviewing Management accounts and highlighting and acting upon any errors identified
  • To monitor staff sickness, complete the relevant monthly monitoring forms and manage staff’s absence efficiently
  • To deputise for the Operations Manager as and when required
  • Provide direct cover at services when required (this post will involve occasional shift working potentially over a seven day rota)

Service Users

  • To support theDeputy Manager and Senior Support Workers toactively work and engage with service users to reshape and develop personalised services that meet and respond to their individual needs
  • To involve service users and their families in the planning of existing and new services
  • Provide professional support and guidance by sharing your knowledge of ASD specific interventions and strategies for managing behaviours that challenge to improve outcomes for individuals
  • To deliver services that people want and need ensuring they are working towards living as independently as possible

Staff Management

  • Develop a culture of problem solving within the services and ensure that a solutions focusedapproach is adopted through the promotion of taking personal responsibility
  • To make sure that staff are responsive and flexible in order to meet the needs of service users, and that training and appraisal records demonstrate that all staff have received adequate grounding to deliver best practice and high quality services
  • Lead by example todevelop your teams
  • Build and develop strong and positive team relationships
  • Provide good performance management, both rewarding success and effectively managing poor performance
  • Ensure appropriate involvement, supervision and development of any volunteers/Apprentices in your team
  • Take the lead on the recruitment and selection of staff for The Drive

Partnership Working and Networking

  • To work with your teams and the Operations Manager to implement Outward’s ASDStrategy, attending stakeholder meetings as required/directed
  • Create effective and collaborative working relationships which enable you to positivelyinfluence external partners
  • Work in collaboration with all your colleagues in all other departments within the Newlon Group
  • Develop appropriate relationships with local authorities in your area, selling and marketing your services to commissioners and letting them know of future plans and discussing possibilities

Technical Skills

  • Investigate and respond to any complaints, conduct investigationsand communicate outcomes within the target timescalesrequired by organisational policies
  • To ensure there are relevant, good quality Person Centred Plans (PCP), Support Plans, risk assessments and Health Action plans (HAP)created and in place for all service usersand that they are updated when required.

  • To make sure that your service meets & exceeds the relevant standards as set out internally and by the regulatory authorities that govern us
  • Work to the expectations of Care Managers, Supporting Peopleand autism accreditation keeping all relevant stakeholders informed of significant developments in the services
  • Ensure that you and your teams follow the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adultswithin SOVA reporting processesfully complying with incident reporting and safeguarding procedures
  • Ensure services know and respond to the internal quality monitoring processes, and to be responsible for the implementation of identified remedial actions and recommendations
  • Ensure that your teams adhere to company policies and procedures
  • To be able to identify and effectively manage risk within your service

Leadership and change management

  • Ability to define and achieve high performance standards and secure positive key outcomes as defined by Outward and regulatory bodies such as CQC, SP and in relation to autism accreditation (E)

Knowledge and skills

  • A relevant qualification in an area such as management, health and social care or autism is desirable (D)
