CLASS RULES and POLICIES 2017-2018

DESCRIPTION This course presents an in-depth study of the topics of Algebra II, with
emphasis on theory and development of formulas and their
application. This is a rigorous study of functions,
graphs, and the tools needed to study advanced mathematics.
CLASS RULES1) Respectful, courteous behavior should be exhibited at all times.
2) Students should be on time and where they should be.
3) Electronic devices may not be used without permission.
4) The dress code should be followed.
5) Students should have passes when not in their assigned areas.
CONSEQUENCESFirst Offense – verbal warning
Second Offense – thirty minute detention
Third Offense - referral
If the situation warrants, the consequences can be made more severe. The Student Handbook
will be used as a reference for any rules not covered by this Rules and Policies paper.
ATTENDANCEStudents will have twice the number of days, including weekend days, to make up work as the
andnumber of days they were absent. Unexcused absences will result in zeroes for missed work.
MAKE-UP WORKMake up tests and quizzes will generally be given after school on announced days. Students need to arrange transportation home these days.
TARDIESUnexcused tardies will have the following consequences per quarter :
First – warning
Second – after school detention
Third – tardy referral
Students must bring a signed pass to class for a tardy to be excused.
GRADESThe state grade scale will be used to determine letter grades : 90-100 A, 80-89 B, 70-79 C,
60-69 D, and 0-59 F. Quarterly grades will be determined as follows : one part for the Daily Grade (assignments, quizzes, extra credit) and one part for each test given each quarter. Students may bring in signed tests for one bonus point each on their final grade.
NOTEBOOKSStudents are strongly encouraged to keep an organized notebook containing an assignments
quizzes, exams, and notes. Notebooks will be graded as announced.
FRIEDLANDERStudents who make A’s on exams, quizzes, and certain assignments as well as answer extra
FRANCScredit problems correctly will receive Friedlander Francs. Friedlander Francs are tokens which may be submitted in pairs for extra credit equivalent to one assignment grade. Students may turn in up to two pairs per quarter, but not until after interim reports go out.
MISCELLANEOUSTake notes, study, and keep up with your work! That will solve most of your problems. When
you do need extra help, make an appointment with me or seek out other students who are currently taking this class or have already taken this class.
