Laura Fraser launches appeal to help Raise the Roof on new home for Glasgow’s Hospice

Breaking Bad, Small Faces and The Missingstar Laura Fraser is backing The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice’s fundraising campaign to Raise the Roof on the project to build a new home for the hospice.
Construction started in September on the site in Bellahouston Park on land gifted by Glasgow City Council. Now, as work on the roof is ready to begin, the hospice is asking supporters to help them bring in the money to Raise the Roof.
“We are so lucky to have somewhere in Glasgow that provides free and compassionate care when we or someone we love are at their most vulnerable,” said Laura, who stars in new ITV thriller The Loch.
“The new state-of-the-art home for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park will enable their amazing staff to deliver even better care to patients and their families.”
The latest phase of the hospice’s £21million Brick by Brick Appeal to build a new home for Glasgow’s Hospice, Raise the Rooflaunches with £1.4m still to be found to reach the fundraising target.
Entrepreneur Oli Norman, who has a personal link to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, is also supporting Raise the Roof, by offering the chance to buy a roof tile for £5 from today and make a donation on his hugely successful Itison deals website.
His father, David, was a patient in the hospice and loved spending time in the art room. Now, in his memory, Oli is funding the art room in the new hospice and backing Raise the Roof.
“Unfortunately it's only if you need the hospice’s services that you realise how truly incredible the team is,” said Oli.
"It's also a sad fact that the hospice relies on public donations to fund a large part of its services, so now as it builds itsnew purpose-built facility for the people of Glasgow, we'd like to do our bit - we'll be donating and hope you will too."
Rhona Baillie, chief executive of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, is delighted at the support from Oli and the Itison team.
“This is such an exciting time for us as we see our dream for so many years become reality,” she said.
“We are extremely grateful to the people of Glasgow and beyond for their support. We are asking them now to stay on the journey with us until the new hospice is built.
“We are building a new hospice that will accommodate patients of all ages, including young people from the age of 16, providing the very highest standard of care for those who are living with a life-limiting or terminal illness.
“The hospice team supports patients and families through what is often the most harrowing time of their lives. Although we cannot add days to lives we can add life to days.”
