Launching of MD( Unani ) Programme at RRIUM, Srinagar
The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) under the aegis of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of Indialaunches postgraduate (MD) program at RRIUM, Srinagar on 17/04/2018 with a view to link education with research and utilize the comprehensive facilities available at its institutes.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Honorable Minister of state (IC) for the development of NER, PMO Personnel Public Grievances and Pension, DEA and DOS Govt. of India, was invited as the Guest of Honour and the event was presided over by Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of state (IC), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India along with the eminent presence of Shri Bali Bhagat, Hon’ble Minister of Health & Medical Education, Govt. of J&K and Ms. Asiea Naqash, Hon’ble Minister of State & Health Education Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare Govt. of J&K.
Ms. Asiea Naqash, Hon’ble Minister of State & Health Education Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare Govt. of J&K expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of AYUSH for introducing the course in Srinagar valley and taking research and development to new heights in the State.
Shri Bali Bhagat Hon’ble Minister of Health & Medical Education, Govt. of J&K is familiar to the institute. He appreciated the research work being carried out especially Regimenal Therapy in treatment of different diseases particularly the role of Hijamah in Waja-al-Mafasil(Rheumatoid Arthtritits).
Talking on the occasion, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State (IC), Ministry of AYUSH highlighted the role of government in promoting medical education and research in the country. He said, that “The Unani System of Medicine is a comprehensive medical system which provides primitive, preventive, curative & rehabilitative health care. The govt. will consider the proposal of J & K State for starting teaching Unani medicine at under graduate level also”.
Addressing the audience, Dr Jitendra Singhhighly appreciated the step of launching MD Unani Program by CCRUM, Ministry of AYUSH with an objective to link education with research. The institute will churn out rich talent in the form of teachers, Researcher and Medical officers. This will go a long way in taking Unani system of medicine to new standards.
ProfessorKhursheed Iqbal Andrabi, Vice-chancellor, University of Kashmir, Aabid Rashid, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr.Roshan Jaggi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, Dr. Anil Khurana, Director General CCRUM, New Delhi & Dr. Seema Akbar, Assistant Director In Charge RRIUMwere also present on the occasion.The technical support for the event was extended by Dr. Abdul Raheem, Research Officer (Unani), S-IV, CCRUM and Dr. Pawan Kumar, Research Officer, S-IV, CCRUM and the administrative support was lended by Mr. RU Choudhury, Assistant Director, Administration.
The RRIUM Srinagar is the first institute of MD Unani course in J&K state. The CCRUM has started MD Unani course into two disciplines i.e. Moalijat (Medicine) & Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology) with the affiliation of University of Kashmir, Srinagar at RRIUM Srinagar from 2016. At present 2 batches in each department are pursuing MD course who had been selected through All India AYUSH PG entrance test.
All the guests had a tour of the RRIUM, Srinagar and they appreciated different clinical sections of the Institute. Dr. Anil Khuranna, DG, CCRUM felicitated all the guests with mementoes and presented a vote of thanks.
