Lisa currently has five dogs – three Border Collies, an Aussie, and a Boston Terrier Mix. Lisa’s dogs cover a wide spectrum; from soft to hard, slow to fast and novice to multiple championships. This allows Lisa to bring real life experiences into her training. The core of which is good foundation training, motivation and consistent, clear handling all in a fun positive way.

Lisa is known by those who have had the opportunity to attend one of her seminars as having the “heart of a teacher”. Lisa has the unique ability to make people feel comfortable regardless of their level, allowing them to learn and have confidence and trust in their handling skills and in the skills of their canine partners.

Training Philosophy and Seminar Focus:Lisa‘s training philosophy is simple: be crisp, clear, clam and consistent. During the seminar, she will work with each participant to define your individual performance criteria and then will help you ‘stick with it’.

AMANDA NELSON uses a clicker and targets in most all of her training. Her focus is on building a strong relationship between handler and dog. To do this, she emphasizes lots of relationship building exercises such as her TEAM Training program as well as a strong foundation with clickers and targets. Amanda's goal when working with her own dogs, as well as her students, is to create a lasting partnership between handler and dog both in and out of the agility ring.

Amanda has been competing in agility for 19 years and has been teaching agility across the country for 8 years; Amanda practices Canine Massage and Reflexology as well as Canine Nutrition, Herbology and Energy Therapy. Amanda has intergrated her massage therapy with acupressure and reflexology to create Fluid Motion Bodywork, more information can be found at Amanda is also a certified NADAC Clinician. She is currently studying advanced canine acupressure, massage therapy, canine nutrition and herbal therapy.

Amanda's first dog was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Ar-Zoo's Dab of Sunshine "Sunny", who competed in USDAA with Amanda and her mom, Sharon. Sunny was the 2nd 12" dog to ever earn a MAD (Masters Agility Dog) also the first Pembroke to ever earn that title. She was the first dog to ever earn a MADC (Masters Agility Dog Canadian) .
In NADAC, Sunny was the fourth dog to earn a NATCH and she was the first dog to earn an Outstanding NATCH and a Superior NATCH. She was also the first to earn a fourth and fifth NATCH, as well as the first dog to earn a NATCH in all three Divisions. She was also Top Dog in 1996,1997,1998 and 1999.

Amanda has taught seminars all over the country as well as traveled to Australia and Japan to teach. She traveled again to Australia in November of 2004 to judge the NADAC Australia nationals and to teach handling seminars.
Amanda has filmed two training videos for Dog Sports Video that were released in the spring of 2006, and she also has a series of training articles that were published in Clean Run magazine starting in Jan of 2006 and handling articles in the summer of 2007.

During this seminar we will cover how to build and increase distance skills. Focus will be on how to teach your dog to move ahead of you as well as work laterally away from you. This seminar will help your team gain the understanding and confidence needed to enhance and increase your distance skills. We will also work on discriminations, directionals and independent obstacle performance. We will focus on when, where and how to cue your dog properly using body language, verbal cues and motion. In addition to agility skills, Amanda will discuss massage techniques as well as canine nutrition at the seminar. We will also work on creating a relationship between you and your dog, building strong foundation skills, and understanding the importance of being crisp, clear, calm and consistent with your handling.

On Wednesday, we will be discussing our training techniques and philosophies in detail and will be doing important skill training. On Thursday, we will work on more complex exercises. Each day, we will lecture as a group and then split up into two groups so that each group gets to work with both Lisa and Amanda equally.

Teams at all levels are welcome but dogs must be able to perform tunnels, jumps, hoops and contacts. Sequences/Courses will be presented in a way that will push each team to develop new skills and expand their level of training. More advanced teams will be pushed to gain more distance and more novice teams will work on gaining distance skills. Other skill challenges will be presented as well.

The seminar will begin at 9:00am each day and run until 4:00pm. There will be a one hour break for lunch. A variety of sandwiches, fruit and veggies will be provided. Soft drinks and water will be provided as well. There is ample space for crating and chairs. Bring lots of yummy treats and great toys for your dog, a crate, and a chair for yourself.
