There will be a second collection next weekend for CAFOD. Envelopes are available on the entrance table. Please give as generously as you can.

BEAUDESERT RESURFACING

You may have noticed the yellow board on the lamppost by the entrance. The Council are planning to resurface the whole of Beaudesert from March 10th to 20th. This will affect access to our car park, of course. Please log into the parish website, which will give the latest information for next weekend. If in doubt, please use the Library car park.

LENT HOUSE GROUPS

This year's Ecumenical Lent Course is entitled “Parables and Possessions”, exploring six parables in the context of our relationship with money and God. Organised by Churches Together in Leighton-Linslade, it will be a six week course which started last week, in local house groups. For details contact Tricia LB 381184.

QUIZ NIGHT

The Fund Raising Committee organised another successful event last Saturday evening, the hall brimming with brain-boxes vying for first place at the Quiz Night. The evening raised £505.50, so Sacred Heart Church won, even if I didn't!

YOUTH FORUM

All youngsters aged between 13 – 18 are invited to a meeting in the hall next Sunday March 16th at 11.30am, following the 10.30am Mass, to discuss provision for youth in our parish. Refreshments provided. For more information contact Eleanor McGivern, 01525 635175, or Juliette Flach, 01525 378262. Do come and share your ideas.

A day of information and discussion for Catholic women (although I intend to go!) on modern slavery and human trafficking will take place in our parish hall on Saturday 29th March, led by Sister Patricia Mulhall, csb. From 10.30am to 3.00pm, please bring a packed lunch. For more information, see the poster on the Justice and Peace notice board, or contact Maura Potter 01628 666278.

An opportunity to come together to pray and reflect: Saturday 15th March, St Teresa's Beaconsfield, 11.00am – 3.30pm. Led by our very own Brian Purfield, who made such a big impact recently at St Pauls School, Milton Keynes, with his splendid talk! For details contact the Cafod Office: email: or phone 01604 785254. If you need a lift, please contact the CAFOD office, and they will try to arrange something for you.

LUTON GOOD COUNSEL

Sadly, Luton Good Counsel have announced that their work has to come to an end at Easter this year. They would like to thank us for our generous support over the past 15 years. It is estimated that well over 500 babies have been saved as a result.

If you have a blue box you wish to return, be assured that any funds remaining will be be donated to other pro-life work. Their phone number for the remaining period is 01582 655246.

ANDY D'ARCY RIP

Following the death of his wife Lucy in November, sadly Andy D'arcy also passed away in February. His Requiem will take place here on Thursday March 20th at 11.00am. His family are very happy for parishioners to attend if you are able.

FR TONY HARRIS – DIAMOND JUBILEE

Fr Tony, who often covers for me when I am away, will be celebrating his Diamond Jubilee on Friday 25th April. We are hosting the event for him. There will be Mass with Bishop Peter at 7.30pm, followed by refreshments in the hall. A date for your diary!

NURSING HOMES

If you have a relative or know of a Catholic resident in one of Leighton Buzzard's nursing homes who would like a visit, could you please let me know. Staff at nursing homes are not required to pass on this information.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY

We do still need extra help with the Children's Liturgy at the 10.30 Mass. The classes only run during term times, but it is now a legal requirement to have at least two adults for each class, so no catechists, no classes. The downside is, of course, you will from time to time be deprived of hearing one of Fr. John's sermons. If you can cope with such deprivation and help, please see Fr John or contact Sean McGivern on LB 635175.

LOOKING FOR A VENUE?

Our new Parish Hall is available for parishioners to hire. This could be individual rooms or the entire hall. We have all, by now, seen for ourselves that the facilities are splendid. Along with your booking you will benefit from the car park, impressive kitchen and modern toilet facilities. Call Mike Plummer on 01525 372301 or email
