Laramie County Community College – Associate of Science Degree and Certificate of Study in Homeland Security

Laramie County Community College offers an Associate of Science Degree and a Certificate of Study in Homeland Security. Students enrolled in this program will be introduced tothe skills and knowledge needed to help support the mission of Homeland Security at the Federal, State, and local government level, and/or working with private business or other non-governmental organizations. Courses in the program cover:

  1. Preventing terrorism attacks within the United States;
  2. Reducing the vulnerability of the United States to terrorism;
  3. Minimizing the damage, and assist in the recovery, from terrorist attacks that do occur;
  4. Acting as the focal point regarding natural and manmade crises and emergency planning; and,
  5. Monitoring connections between illegal drug trafficking and terrorism.

Students will be tasked with projects throughout the delivery of this program that will help them to apply these skills towards the development of assessments and solutions that address real-life situations.

Students are required to earn 61-64credits to complete the Associates of Science Degree in Homeland Security.

Homeland Security and Law Enforcement

Terrorism and Weapons of Mass Destruction

Cyber-Terrorism

Emergency Management Internship (in coordination with Laramie County Emergency Management)

Homeland Security Internship (in coordination with Wyoming Office of Homeland Security)

Certificate of Study in Homeland Security

Students have the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Study in Homeland Security instead of, or in addition to the Associate of Science Degree in Homeland Security. Students must earn 30 credits by completing the five required courses and any five electives to receive the Certificate of Study in Homeland Security.

Laramie County Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
