  • I have been in the translation business as a freelance translator since 1991.
  • Total years of experience: 25
  • 1975 – 1990: Working as an engineer developing control systems for machine tools at the Research Institute of Machine Tools.
  • 1973-1974: Working as an engineer developing computer peripheral units at Aritma (Czech computer manufacturer).

Qualification:

  • 1994: University of Cambridge certificate in English
  • 1981: Special language course organized by my employer (VÚOSO) focused on machine tools
  • 1980: Member of editorial board during work on the dictionary of semiconductor memories
  • 1973: Graduated from the TechnicalUniversity of Electrical Engineering in Prague
  • 1972: Special language courses during studies at the university focused on electrical and mechanical engineering completed with a state language exit examination
  • 1967: A-level examination in English

Area of expertise:

My main area of expertise is mechanical and electrical engineering in general but I am also familiar with other branchesof engineering, such as optics or telecommunications. I have translated many manuals of Japanese machine tools Yamazaki Mazak from English into Czech, manuals of Japanese control systems and PLC systems Fanuc. I also translate Boeing and Sikorski production standards for a Czech aircraft manufacturer, manuals for grinding machines, instruction manuals for various instruments,and many others.
