Feb. 16, 2017

Current Events:Wow, thanks to all the families who came out to support our Winter Wonderland Dance. It was a fun evening for all! Of course, Valentine’s Day was the highlight of the week for the children. It was so sweet and dear for the children to be so appreciative and thankful to their friends for their special Valentine cards and goodies. Tonight or Friday, I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress since our October conferences.

Language Arts: We continue to work on the mechanics of writing—using uppercase letters and punctuation correctly. As they write their sentences for word work, please encourage the use of descriptive words, adjectives, like size, color, or number words that will expand their story writing skills. Getting the students away from using similar sentence styles, meaning to start each sentence differently, is another skill to improve their writing.

Math: In Math, we are working on writing increasing and decreasing number patterns, as well as recognizing the pattern unit. Plus, looking at a number pattern and determining the rule for the amount that the number pattern increases or decreases.

Social Studies:We continue to read books and discuss George Washington and Abe Lincoln.

Science: The children have been comparing different seeds and writing descriptions about the seeds in their Organism Journals.
