DAILY CHECK IN/CHECK OUT AND TRANSPORTATION

CHECK IN DAILY (Tues-Thurs) at 7:30 a.m.

Steve Michaud Park in Lakeville (170th & Ipava Ave.). Busses depart promptly at 7:50 a.m. We CANNOT hold busses for late campers.

REQUIRED SIGN IN DAILY

A parent/guardian MUST sign your camper in with their Program Aide EVERY DAY. Do not just drop them off.

CAMPER WILL BE ABSENT FROM CAMP

If your camper will not be attending camp one or more days, contact SHERRI SCHAIBLE AT 612.910.7267 or ANGIE ZINTER AT 952.201.7070 BY 7:30 A.M. on the day she will be absent.

CHECK OUT DAILY at 5:00 p.m.

Steve Michaud Park Lakeville. Please be patient and keep in mind that we are riding busses and weather/traffic may impact arrival time by a few minutes and the safety of our campers is our priority.

REQUIRED SIGN OUT DAILY

A parent/guardian is required to sign-out each camper EVERY DAY. Only authorized adults will be allowed to sign-out/take a camper (as noted by you on the online registration form). DO NOT pick up your child without signing them out. This only results in safety issues and chaos for all of those involved in taking care of your camper. Campers are dismissed from the sidewalk across the parking lot. You MAY NOT pick your child up directly from the bus as they exit. Please respect our procedures - we know many people are in a hurry - but your camper's safety is our number one concern.

RIDING THE BUS

For security purposes, ALL CAMPERS are REQUIRED to ride the bus to and from camp EVERY DAY.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS

ADULT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO ENSURE WE HAVE A SAFE CAMP AND ALL GIRLS ARE ABLE TO ATTEND.

Without enough adult volunteers we may have to turn campers away. Please consider volunteering - or have an adult family member volunteer. Grandmas, Grandpas, Adult Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Family Friends - all make great volunteers. In addition, you will have one of the best days of summer! The VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM is available on the Lakeville GS website.

UNIT ASSIGNMENTS

Campers are placed in groups of 8-15 girls in the same grade. Every effort is made to keep troops together within the confines of SafetyWise Guidelines. Groups do not exceed 15 campers due to capacity at ranges, boats, climbing wall, etcetera. This ensures campers are able to participate in each activity.

Please indicate if your camper would like to be grouped in a unit with her troop or does not have a preference.

NOTE: We make every effort to keep groups together, but this will be dependent on number of adults who volunteer to help in those units. If you want to be assured your campers are able to be with their troop/friends be sure to register as an adult volunteer!

OVERNIGHT PROGRAM

The optional overnight program is available ONLY for girls entering 5th and 6th grade in FALL 2017. The overnight is Thursday night, July 20th through Friday morning, July 21st. Pickup will be approximately 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at Steve Michaud Park.

The overnight is REQUIRED FOR PATs as part of their Program Aide Training.

The overnight experience consists of a hike to the camp outpost site where campers participate in advanced camp activities, hike to Friendship Point to watch the sun set over Lake Byllesby, enjoy a campfire with songs and skits, and end the night by sleeping in tents. In addition, they experience dinner and dessert cooked over the fire as well as a quick breakfast on Friday morning.

The space utilized for the tents is a treed area with clearings for tents (about 5-7 tents per clearing). All clearings are easily visible to adjacent clearings. Campers, Program Aides in Training, Program Aides, and Adult Volunteers are grouped in these clearings to ensure safety.

PHONE CALLS HOME

Campers will NOT be permitted to call home. In case of emergency an adult volunteer will call you.

TENT ASSIGNMENTS

Overnight volunteers work with campers on Tuesday and Wednesday to choose their tent mates. Camp tents accommodate 2 campers. Campers who wish to sleep with more than one other girl are asked to bring their own tents. It is recommended that campers who are attending with friends work their sleeping arrangement out in advance so they can clearly articulate their wishes to the volunteers.

TROOPS ATTENDING OVERNIGHT WITH AN ADULT VOLUNTEER

Adult volunteers, such as Troop Leaders, wishing to be in the same clearing as troop members must indicate that on this registration form. If a large group wants to be in the same tent together they will be required to bring their own tent. NO adults are allowed in tents with campers, other than their own daughter.

CAMP T-SHIRTS

ALL CAMPERS MUST WEAR THEIR COLOR-CODED CAMP T-SHIRT EVERY DAY.

These t-shirts are color coordinated by grade and are for the safety of the campers. T-Shirts MUST NOT be altered in any way (cutting off sleeves, making fringe on the bottom). Because they are color coded by grade, make sure you have listed above your camper's grade for NEXT school year. Please be careful in choosing the size as extra t-shirts are not ordered.

T-SHIRT PICK UP

T-shirts will be available for pick up in Lakeville the week before camp.

NOTE FOR GIRLS ENTERING 5TH GRADE

5th grade tie-dyes their shirts on Tuesday. 5th grade campers MUST wear a WHITE shirt on Tuesday. They will receive their camp t-shirt at camp. YOU DO NOT PICK YOUR SHIRT UP PRIOR TO CAMP. T-shirts will need to be washed on Tuesday night and girls MUST wear their tye dye shirts Wed-Thurs.

NOTE FOR PATs

PATs may NOT write their camp name on their t-shirt prior to camp. Camp names must be approved by the PA Trainers. This happens on Tuesday at camp. On Tuesday night PATs are allowed (and encouraged) to paint and decorate their t-shirts with their approved camp names.
