PASTOR’S REPORT

ANNUAL REPORT 2010

Greetings!

Two thousand and ten has been a challenging year, both within and without the Church. Financial concerns, unemployment, rising costs, aging, and super- busy (hope I can get a term recognized as Sarah Palin did) families have combined to make our faith walk more important than ever before. As we have moved forward in 2010, unity, common goals, and remembering that “it’s not about me” continue to lead us on.

Highlights:

The purchase of and progress using the projection system during worship and meetings. An added highlight is the system being financed through a personal gift from a member of the church.

The installation of speakers for the narthex and fellowship hall.

Not only is our church being recognized through our generous contributions to the Greece Food Shelf but also through Mission Share. As of November 17, we have seven individuals and/or small groups sponsoring families through the Mission Share Christmas Hope Ministry.

We have added two Girl Scout groups this fall. Both groups are led by Lakeview members, Leah Booth and Angela Marshall.

Something to look forward to is the greater involvement of our members in reading Scripture, leading worship, Bible study, outreach, and preaching. This past summer our youth groups sponsored and led our own Vacation Bible School.

God has been busy through Lakeview and will continue until Jesus comes again, as long as we continue to seek His face!

Blessings!

Pastor Tim

LAKEVIEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, REFORMED

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

DECEMBER 4, 2009

Worship and Prayer:

Pastor Bush led us in a hymn and prayer. He read Ephesians 3:14-21. Jim Raymond led devotions from Our Daily Bread. It was titled “What You Can Do.” Statistics say 90% of Bible-believing Christians want a close relationship with God, a high degree of integrity, and a deep commitment to the faith. This results in true joy. Many people put this burden on others, but we should not depend on outside sources to provide happiness. We need to let Christ be at home in our hearts. If a troubled world gets you down, look up to Jesus.

The Annual Congregational Meeting was officially called to order at 7 pm.

Pastor’s Report:

We reviewed the Pastor’s Report. Pastor Tim said sometimes it seems like they came to Lakeview yesterday. He is very grateful for the special event to celebrate their anniversary. He thanked everyone for the time to be with Marilyn when her father passed away. He really appreciated it. Our church is an organism and not just an organization as long as all of us are doing what God wants us to do. Praise the Lord!

Privilege of the Floor:

A MOTION WAS MADE TO GIVE PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR TO ANYONE WHO IS HERE TONIGHT, BY TED PAWLICKI, SECONDED BY KEN MAHON, AND APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.

Ministry Reports:

Deacons’ Report: Jim Raymond was available for questions. Historically our benevolences have been worldwide. In light of the economic times, our benevolences will stay in the Rochester area with the exception of Camp Fowler. We have been fortunate to help many people. The Deacons decided to send residual benevolence funds to our Monthly Missions along with a balance in our Love fund. One commented that we have been fortunate to have numerous communications from the Deacons this year. For example, the Deacons’ Corner. The Deacons’ Love Fund is an account we have to help people in financial emergencies.

Elders’ Report: Dave Goodrich was available for questions. There were no questions.

Election: Our vote is God’s way of choosing our leaders. They are elected and called by God. Donna Tijou was elected Deacon and Rich Ives was elected Elder. Our thanks also for those who were nominated and maybe next year we will be calling on you.

Buildings and Grounds Committee Report: Chris Dorland was available to answer questions. Paul Marvin explained that we need a cherry picker to reach the light in the parking lot. Bob Howe gave kudos for those who have mowed the lawn. A special thanks to Dave Schuth as our repairman and Bob Perrotte who blew the leaves in the fall. George Bremner and Ken Gill were very instrumental this year. Bravo to the whole B&G Committee. It is a significant budget of the church and they try to stay within budget. Jan and Ken Mahon are doing an excellent job as custodians. We will have new cushions on the pews the end of January. If anyone wants an old cushion, please let B&G know.

Community Life Committee Report: There were no questions. This is a Committee that has no meetings. If you have ideas, let them know.

Education Team Report: Bob VanAlstyne was available for questions. December 13 will be a Christmas Program and a Happy Birthday party to Jesus. We have Sunday School classes for everyone. If anyone wants to help with Vacation Bible School this year, let Bob know.

Finance Committee Report: Rich Howell gave a presentation of 2009 expenses through October. We spend 90% of our income running the church. There are five expense groups. Rich reviewed each expense group.

Bob Howe presented the Proposed 2010 Budget.

A MOTION WAS MADE TO APPROVE THE BUDGET FOR 2010 BY GAIL GILL, SECONDED BY PAUL MARVIN, AND APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.

Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf Report: Joan Marvin was available for questions.

It was suggested the food baskets be brought forward at the 8:30 service. Our

November contribution was 220 pounds of food. Summer is a challenge. We

provide much more than many churches and they all know us. Our baskets are

20 years old so we need to handle them with care. Thank you Joan, Debbie Gill,

Molly Ives, and Marilyn Goodrich for all your hard work.

Lakeview Ladies’ Group Report: Edna Coon was available to answer questions. There were no questions. Many new people have stepped up to continue programs. Paul Marvin thanked everyone who keeps the kitchen clean and fully stocked. There are ten different community groups who meet here.

Outreach Report: Pastor Tim asked if some people would be willing to welcome newcomers in our zip code once a month. New folks will have a flyer mailed to them prior to our visit. We would really like to work on this next year. We appreciate all the years our bread makers distributed bread. We need to keep our picture board up to date as visitors have commented on it.

ScoutTroop 18 Report: Ken Mahon reported that the “Buckskin” is back at Lakeview. We’ve had it 9 out of 19 years. He thanked everyone for letting them have the meetings and Court of Honor here. Usually 2-4% become Eagle scouts and we’re running close to 15%.

Worship Committee Report: Rich Ives talked about the Projection Team which is looking at a projection system for our sanctuary. The Projection Team is a task group. The Worship Committee is talking with other churches as to how they use their system and will report to the congregation.

Junior Youth Group Report: Erica Mason said they just started and are doing great. Amy Piccarreto and.Erica were present. Heather Miller is a leader also.

Senior Youth Group Report: Suzanne Pettifer feels she and Jim Raymond are equally blessed with working with the kids. They work hard to keep the kids engaged so continue to pray for them. We also thank their spouses for their support.

Joanne Kehrli-Merlau said they travel in the winter and visit many churches. The most vital and active churches are those with youth attending. The kids need good leadership, values, and moral leading and this is so important. You might not see the impact now but will in the future as these kids keep on track. Jim Raymond said most of the kids in his Sunday School class are in the Senior Youth Group.

Other Business:

Pastor Tim shared that Ted Pawlicki will be receiving training to be a Preaching Elder. Our congratulations to him.

Bouquets:

Pastor Tim thanked Carol Bremner, Becky Hibbard, and Bob Howe who were willing to serve as Elder and Deacon.

Terry Quetschenbach thanked Erica, Amy, and Heather for Youth Group Leadership. Bouquets to Suzanne Pettifer and Jim Raymond also.

Bouquet to Julie Hettel for running around with the kids. She’s always there.

Molly Ives thanked Julie Hettel and Debbie Gill for the Christmas Program.

Dianne Pettifer thanked Dave Schuth for his time, talent and handiwork.

2009 Annual Congregational Meeting -- Page 4

Lois Worboys thanked Ken Mahon for his Scouting leadership. Ken had a large impact on her kids. Her son went through Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and became an Eagle Scout as a direct

result of Ken’s inspiration, and her son has never been turned down for a job after saying he was an Eagle Scout.

Donna Tijou thanked everyone for thinking enough of her to make her Deacon and she prays she will do well for this church and the community.

Pastor Tim thanked Jim Raymond as Chair of Deacons and Dave Goodrich as Vice President of Consistory.

Marilyn Goodrich said music is a big part of her life. She thanked Kevin Griffith, Jim Dalberth, and Donna Birrittella for their leadership.

Pastor Tim thanked Edna Coon and Jim Raymond for their years on Consistory.

Terry Quetschenbach thanked Geoff Pettifer and Mark Gill for taking over the Junior Sunday School class.
