Academic Goal / Benchmarks
Beginning in 2012, LMS students will make incremental growth in math and reading based on Washington State Annual Measurable Objectives. LMS students will grow 2.3% annually in reading and 3.1% annually in math.
Note: Goal set based on Annual Measurable Objectives set by the state.
Beginning in 2012, LMS students will make incremental growth in writing and science based on meeting the NMFSD 90% goal by 2017. LMS students will grow 2.8% annually in writing and 3.9% annually in science.
Note: Goal set based on district ninety percent goal.
Beginning in 2012, LMS eighth grade students will make incremental growth in Health, Fitness, Visual Arts, Music and Social studies in order to meet the NMFSD 90% goal by 2017. LMS eighth grade students will grow:
0.5% annually in Health
0.5% annually in Fitness

Professional Learning Goals / Benchmarks
Content areas will utilize a curriculum framework to develop and administer at least one common formative/summative assessment per quarter at each grade level. / 2013-2014
  • Each content area will use collaboration time to develop common formative and/or summative assessments at each grade level.
  • By the end of the each semester of the 2013-2014 school year each content area will have implemented one common formative/summative assessment at each grade level.
  • Content area teams need to keep Common formative/summative assessment data. The purpose of maintaining this data is to provide additional longitudinal information about student performance within specific content measures.
  • Teachers will utilize the common formative assessment data to make instructional adjustments.
2014-2015
  • Content area team will have created a minimum of four common formative assessments.

All teachers will display and articulate Student Friendly, Specific, and Action Oriented Learning Targets for the daily lesson.
Student Friendly: They are stated in personalized terms like, “I can…” or “We can…” or “We will…”
Specific: They clearly state the precise skills students can demonstrate.

  • Beginning in the Fall of 2012, Learning targets are to be posted daily and verbally shared with the students in each class.
  • Learning Targets are to be assessed through formative assessments.
  • Students will be able to articulate the Learning Target when asked.
  • Teachers are encouraged to keep and utilize a bank of learning targets.

Based on funding availability, LMS teachers will be given the opportunity to participate in two half days of peer observations every school year. / 2012-2017
  • Teachers trained in PTL/STAR/Student Learning protocol observations will facilitate peer observations.
  • Teachers will be provided the opportunity to participate in STAR/Student Learning protocol observation with their content area team members or in areas of common interest.

LMS teachers will utilize S.M.A.R.T. goals to establish benchmarks for reaching student achievement goals and professional learning goals.

  • Students of the month will be nominated and recognized by staff and students.
  • School assemblies will be held to recognize and celebrate students.
  • Eagle Party passes will be given to students that demonstrate any of the attributes of The Lakeside Way.
  • Caughta tickets will be used to recognize/reward students.
  • The first two days of the school are dedicated to building our school as a community and a day at the end of the year to celebrate our school as a community around the philosophy of The Lakeside Way and Rachel's Challenge.
