Call to Order/Prior Minutes Approval David Winner called the meeting to order at 7:08 p. David asked for volunteers to collect before and after the Buffett concert on Sunday and Monday. Discussion ensued. David Winner will talk to the bars around Wrigley about collecting. Beth Murphy moved and Bonnie Leracz seconded that LVCC make a contribution of $5000 to McCormick/Tribune.com for relief efforts for hurricane victims. Bob Clarke asked if Beth would amend her motion to half the amount. She was agreeable. The amended motion carried. Susan Hagan moved and Mark Knight seconded approval of the minutes of the August meeting. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report Treasurer Knight presented his report and commented on various items.

Speaker Myra Gomez, Community Organizer, City of Chicago Police Department, spoke about forming block clubs with block captains. David Winner indicated forming block clubs is a good way to build membership in the Branches.

President’s Report1. Kudos to Rick Cummings for organizing the night at the Playground Theatre. 2. The summer fair on Sheffield was very successful financially. It is likely the fair will be at the same location next year. 3. Diann Marsalek organized a successful forum on graffiti. There were about 50 people in attendance. 4. Oktoberfest sponsored by ELVN is coming up on October 2. LVCC will have a meeting there at 3:30 p. to vote on amendments to the LVCC bylaws; LVCC needs 100 paid members to attend the meeting. 5. There will be a meeting on September 7 on the proposed rooftop ordinance at LeMoyne School. The purpose of the meeting is educational. Parking was donated by Service Parking, an ELVN member, at the LeMoyne School parking lot.

6. Marie Poppy asked about the smoking ban ordinance survey on the LVCC website. She asked the Branch presidents to make their membership aware of the survey and ask for participation. 7. The beverage fridge has been restocked by Jim Ludwig. Thanks Jim. 8. David asked for email addresses from the Branches to send a mailing every other Thursday listing all the activities in the Branches. Email addresses would only be used for the every other week email. Those Branches who are willing to participate should provide their lists to David Winner. 9. Triangle and Belmont Harbor will have a joint meeting on October 18. John Becvar and Jim Ludwig promoted the idea of a joint meeting. 10. If the by-laws are changed in October, the LVCC dues may change. How much should LVCC charge? David Winner thinks LVCC should charge something so that we can boast of our membership numbers when LVCC speaks before the city council. The current $4 dues to LVCC dates to the bylaws of 1985. There are now 600 paid members. Chad Monteith suggested charging more for people who want paper mail rather than email. Rich Streetman suggested $25 with discounts for students or seniors or limited means individuals. Bob Clarke moved and Bonnie Leracz seconded LVCC dues of $5. Jim Ludwig said that $5 makes sense because $10 to the Branch would then cover $5 for the Branch and $5 for LVCC. David Winner indicated 60 to 70% of LVCC dues comes through the Branch structure. Branches indicated their dues structure. Motion carried. (17, for; 5, against).

Committee Reports

Transportation – Alderman Tunney is to be commended for putting together a Traffic Operations plan. Chester Kropidlowski distributed the report.

Chester Kropidlowski might have a conflict of interest because of consulting to CDOT. He will complete a current report and then step down as LVCC Transportation Chair.

Branch Reports – Reports from Hamlin Park, SELVN, and Triangle were circulated by email.

Old Business Mike Lufrano reported on plans for the Jimmy Buffett concerts on Sunday at 6:00 p. and Monday at 2:00 p. Gates will open 2.5 hours before the time of the concert. Concert will be 3.5 hours long.

Neighborhood protections will be in effect. Installation work was being done this evening (Sept. 1). They will be out of the stadium by Wednesday. Some of the rooftops will have guests.

New Business September 26 at Wellington Avenue Church SELVN will have a meeting on a potential bird flu epidemic.

Chad Monteith asked for feedback from the branches on the airships that fly over Wrigley. They are noisy and need to have a limit on height and noise. Jim Ludwig said to contact the Dept. of Aviation.

Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p. The next meeting is October 6 at the LVCC office at 7:00 p.

Respectfully submitted,

B. B. Leracz
