MEMBERS PRESENT: Lisa Kittel, Christine Wiegert, Denise Cornell, Bob Walz,Greg Hall andBarb Laska.

BOARD MEETING MINUTES: June 28,2011minutes were approved without amendment.

ADMINISTRATION:

Past President –Christine Wiegert

  • Christine updated the Board about the Carol Mathew’s Day Care Playground Project. They recently received an extra grant to help in the funding of this project. Volunteers will be needed late September to assist with the demolishing and the construction of the new playground.
  • Christine has the list of participants at this year’s Annual Charter Dinner she will provide this list to Dean Knutson for him to review.

President Elect - No Report

President–Lisa Kittel

  • St Paul Rotary member Sue presented Lisa with an International Project request for funding she asked the International Committee Chair to review their request and make a recommendation at the Board.
  • After consideration of a member’s request about getting a Post Office Box for the Club it was decided to approve that request and make application for a P O Box at the Lake Elmo Post Office. Lisa will forward the application to Dean Knutson for payment.
  • Dean and Lisa discussed the 2011-2012 budgets earlier Lisa distributed the budget spread sheet to the Committee Chair for them to take back to their committee members to review and make necessary recommendation changes. Lisa is asking that the Committee Chairs have their budgets completed and presented at the August Board Meeting.
  • At the 2010 Cadillac Dinner a member bid on a Live Auction Dinner/Boat Cruise. The member is asking that the amount paid for this auction item goes toward the Rotary Foundation on the member’s behalf. Lisa will let the member know that the Board has approved the request.

Treasurer Report –Lisa Kittel

  • June’s 30, 2011 Checking Balance is $11,892.84 and Savings Balance is $36,937.23.
  • Dean has begun the Tax Reporting/Tax Return for the Club.

Secretary Report – Denise Cornell

  • 34 active members for the month of June
  • June’s attendance was 72.6%

REPORTS BY CLUB COMMITTEE:

CLUB SERVICE–No report

COMMUNITY SERVICE: -Greg Hall

  • Noted that we have volunteers to drive golf carts for the upcoming Washington County Fair by transporting fair goers throughout the Fair Grounds.
  • Valley Out Reach program by volunteering on the 4th Monday each month assisting in grocery shopping. This program is going very well. Spoke about some other opportunities such as clothing and food drives.
  • Ice Cream Social at this year’s July 4th Celebration went very well. Lisa asked if you could find out approximately how many people went though the line.
  • Upcoming Special Events Fall Festival & The Gold Plate Dinner.

INTERNATIONAL/FOUNDATION: Bob Walz.

  • Julie Bunn has secured the 1st home for the Foreign Exchange Student arriving from Ecuador in Mid-August. Bob noted that Julie and one other member from the Stillwater Club did the interviewing process.
  • Bob updated on the International Food Project in Teustepe, Nicaragua and noted that Elena will be visiting September 14th.
  • Bob spoke of the Woodbury’s Kenya International Project that was submitted to our club requesting funding as well as other clubs. Currently Roseville, Rochester and New Brighton as contributed $500. Stillwater Sunrise contributed $1000. Recommending that part of the 50/50 International draw with a match from our Club goes towards this project. The Board thanked Bob for looking into this Rotary Project request. A motion was made, seconded and carried to have 50/50 International draw with a Club Match to go towards the Woodbury’s International Project request for Uluthe Mungao Holistic and Sustainable Development.

VOCATIONAL: Barb Laska

  • Dictionaries ordered for the Lake Elmo Elementary School.
  • Rotary Scholarship; Group Study Exchange – suggest speaking to Dave Schafer at Woodbury Club about ideas. Discuss past projects such as the Guatemala Literacy Project andGroup Study Exchange.

MENTORING- No Report

OLD BUSINESS: -None

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Greg Hall spoke of the Club’s opportunities by being on Face Book after some discussion Greg volunteer to make the necessary changes for the Club to be on Face Book.
