Lady Panthers Perimeter Routine
Drill #1 – One Hand Shooting Drill
- Start just in front of the rim. Guide hand behind your back.
- If you make a perfect swish, take a step back.
- Continue until you make it to the free throw line.
- Concentrate on your shooting line? Foot, knee, elbow, ball.
- Track your misses. Are they short, long, left, right?
Drill #2 – Dribble Commando (Baseline to FT line)
- Perform 8 trips for each skill. FT line and back is two trips.
- Shoot 4 free throws in between each set.
1. One ball. Cross over in the middle, reverse pivot to turn around.
- One ball. Between the legs in middle, reverse pivot to turn around.
- One ball. Attack the middle, retreat dribble for two. Cross over and go. Reverse pivot to turn around.
- Two balls. Cross over in the middle. Turn any way you choose.
- Two balls. Between the legs in the middle. Turn any way you choose.
- Be sure you go between the legs with the other hand on the way back.
Drill #3 – “X” Out Lay-Ups
- Start from the right wing, outside the three point line.
- Drive in hard and shoot a right handed lay-up. Get your own rebound and go to the left wing. Shoot a left handed lay-up.
- You must put a foot on the 3 point line before you can drive in.
- Continue right and left until you have made 20 lay-ups.
- Timed – 30 seconds. How many can you make?
Shoot 10 Free Throws. If you do not make 7 out of 10, run down and back the length of the court.
Drill #4 – 3-2-1 Shooting Game
- 5 spots on the floor. Corners, Wings, Top.
- Spin the ball to yourself or have a partner pass to you.
- From every spot, you will do the following.
- Shoot a 3-point shot. Make = 3 points
- Shot fake and 1 dribble for a 2-point shot. Make = 2 points
- Jab step and drive to the basket for a lay-up from the three point line. Make = 1 point
- Work you way around to all 5 spots.
- When you are finished, shoot two FT’s. Make both = 2 points
- Perfect score is 32 points. Post score is 15. Perimeter score is 20.
- Play the game 4 times. Try to beat your score each time.
Shoot 10 Free Throws. If you do not make 7 out of 10, run down and back the length of the court.
Drill #5 – 5 Spot 3’s Drill
- Work from five spots. Corners, wings and top.
- Spin the ball to yourself or have a partner pass to you.
- Spin the ball to yourself or have a partner pass it to you.
- Shoot 10 shots from each spot. Record the number you make from each spot.
- Timed – Shoot for one minute from each spot. How many shots total can you make in 5 minutes?
Shoot 10 Free Throws. If you do not make 7 out of 10, run down and back the length of the court.
