Daily Requirements for class: Binder with5 dividers a good supply of paper, and a pencil. (Optional: colored pencils &/or markers). After a brief review of the material learned in 6th grade Spanish, each student will receive a Spanish workbook @ the third week of school. The WORKBOOK will be used for classwork and for homework and must be brought to class every day. Because students will use the same workbook in 8th grade, it is required that students cover the workbook with duct tape or contact paper to protect it. Teachers will collect and keep these workbooks at the end of 7th grade and redistribute them to students at the start of 8th grade. In addition, each student should bring in one box of tissues during the first week.

The TEXTBOOK which guides our program, Realidades, is an excellent resource and will be available in the classroom. Each student will also be given a username and password to be able to access the textbook electronically from home. After the first few weeks of school, I will give directions for and a demonstration on how to access the textbook at home. Directions for accessing the ebookcan be found on my website, additionally.

There will be one major project in each marking period.

Grades: Each marking period, the students’ grade for the class will be calculated based on classwork (35%), homework (5%), tests(20%), quizzes (20%), and projects(20%).

Homework: Homework is generally given 3 to 4 days a week and is worth 5 points if done thoughtfully and thoroughly. Homework is usually a short assignment which practices the material we are studying in class. For maximum learning benefits, it should be completed with effort and completed on time. At the beginning of class, it is the students’ responsibility to copy down the homework assignment from the front board into their assignment book. Additionally, the homework is posted daily on my webpage under the tab Homework for 7th Grade. Please check the webpage daily!

Absences: If a student is absent from class the day the homework assignment is assigned or checked/collected, it is their responsibility to show the completed work to the teacher as soon as possible, so that the grade can be changed in HAC. Always check my website as it is updated daily. Students should consult with me immediately after missing any work so that we can arrange a time to complete that work (tests, quizzes, homework, etc.).
