The Ibero American Cultural Attaches Association in Washington announces a call for entries to participate in the XIX Art Salon in Washington DC.

In this edition, the theme will be

“The Global Warming”

A phenomenon having a great impact in today’s world.

The curators of the exhibition will be Dr. Jack Rasmussen, Director and Curator of “Katzen” Museum of the American University, and Ms. Jilma Prada, owner of Prada Gallery. They will select the works of art proposed by the ICAA member countries.

The works of art selected will be displayed at the Katzen Museum of the American University in Washington, D.C., from November 11th to December 28th, 2008.

Contest Rules:

Pre-selection stage:

  1. The works must adjust to the proposed theme.
  2. Nationality: The artist must be citizen of one of the countries members of the ICAA regardless their current place of residence
  3. Selection parameters: The artist should have done at least three (3) group exhibitions and one (1) individual exhibition
  4. Work selection: The artist should send his/her work as a digital image accompanied by his/her Curriculum-vitae no longer than 4 paragraphs. The images should be of professional quality:
  5. The digital image and Curriculum Vitae should be sent to the embassies, from April 7th, 2008 to June 3rd, 2008. After the deadline, no other works will be accepted.
  6. Number of works that can be submitted: Up to three (3) works per artist.
  7. By participating in the contest, the artist gives his/her consent to ICAA to freely reproduce the selected works in postcards, billboards, calendars, brochures, catalogues, videos, etc, at any moment and with no monetary compensation to the author.
  8. The artist authorizes the ICAA to sell his/her work during the exhibitions or during an auction carried out at the end of the exhibition. The price will be the one established by the author. 10% of the sale price will be kept as a contribution for the AACIA.

Exhibition stage:

  1. The selected works must be sent by the artist in perfect conditions to their embassies by October 20th, 2008.
  2. In the case of photographs and paintings, they must be ready to be displayed.
  3. The shipping cost, if any, must be covered by the artist or his/her embassy.
  4. The work will be insured during the exhibition period only and while it stays at the gallery.
  5. The selected works should be given a value by the artist considering its declaration to the insurance and its possible sale at the Salon.

The participation in this contest implies the understanding and acceptance of the above mentioned conditions.
