E & L: Heads or Tails

Time: 20 min

Communication by touch.

Two rows of chairs are placed back-to-back. The group is divided into two teams that sit down on the chairs. The two teams are sitting back-to-back, and the facilitator stands at one end of the row holding a coin. At the other end of the row is a key chain (or other suitable object) lying on a chair.

The participants hold each others’ hand. Everyone close their eyes, except the two participants sitting at the end of each row. The facilitator tosses up for heads or tails. The two closest participants pay attention. If it is tails, nothing happens, and the facilitator tosses the coin again. If it is heads, the two closest participants squeeze the hand of the person sitting next to them. The hand squeeze is sent down the rows. When the last person gets their hand squeezed, he/she tries to reach for the key chain on the chair. The person that got hold of the keys moves to the other end of the row, where the facilitator is, and will now watch the tossing for heads or tails, while all her/his team members move down one chair.

The winner team is the first team to pick up the key chain after all the team members have had a turn next to the facilitator.
