Dear Year 5 and 6 Parents

KULB Residential Visit 2018 for Years 5 and 6

I am delighted to officially launch our school residential trip for 2018. This year we will be going to The Swattenden Centre, Cranbrook for a three day (two nights) residential educational adventure activity course, from Wednesday 21 March to Friday 23 March 2018. Children in Years 5 and 6 from across the KULB federation of schools are invited to attend the joint venture.

Swattenden is a KCC approved, high quality outdoor learning awarded centre, set in 27 acres of beautiful Kent countryside and is an ideal place to have an adventure outdoors. Programmes are created in collaboration with each group to ensure the children’s needs are met and learning objectives are achieved.

With excellent equipment and facilities, their team of caring, friendly and qualified outdoor professionals will make learning new skills or refining old ones an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. The accommodation is wheelchair accessible, has a communal lounge/games rooms and many rooms were refurbished recently. They have a wide range of activities such as archery, climbing wall, Jacob’s ladder, raft building and vine bridge to name but a few. Children will experience some of these during their time at Swattenden.

The Swattenden Centre is smaller than previous year’s centres and this will enable us to enjoy more time together as a federation. You may like to view the website, for further details of the site and activities.

The trip includes full catering and arrangements can be made for any special dietary requirements.

The cost of the trip (without transport) is as follows:

Cost per child for accommodation, full board catering and instructed activities = £135

I intend to transport the children by car again, with parents’ assistance, as this reduces the cost of the visit substantially.

Residential courses organised by the school are an optional, but invaluable part of the National Curriculum. Pupils benefit hugely from the experience, both educationally and socially and I feel certain that the programme which we have chosen will prove to be both enjoyable and very worthwhile.

Please can you confirm that you wish your child to attend and pay the deposit of £50 per child by Monday 2 October at the latest aswe must confirm final numbers to the centre by 3 October. You will have the opportunity to pay for the trip in instalments and details of the payment schedule will be sent once numbers are confirmed.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me, Mrs Masters or Mrs Rouse in the school Office.

Yours sincerely
