Kristine Campbell
CHAMPAIGN – Kristine Juhl Campbell, 60, of Champaign passed away at 9:23 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 22, 2011) at her home.
She was born on Oct. 22, 1951, in Pasadena, Calif., to Allan and Helen Juhl.
Kris married Gene E. Campbell on May 5, 1979, in Ames, Iowa.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gene; a son, Scot E. Campbell of Boston, Mass.; and a daughter, Jennifer Campbell and son-in-law, Tony Scott, of Bergen, Norway.
Also surviving are her mother, Helen Juhl, of Savoy; two sisters, Karen Negronida of Tucson, Ariz., and Mardi Juhl of Placerville, Calif.; and nephew, Alex Negronida of Evanston.
She was preceded in death by her father, Allan Juhl; a brother, Steven Juhl; and a brother-in-law, Peter Negronida. Kris was the youngest of three Juhl girls.
Kris worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, the Offices of the Chancellor, Public Affairs, and Public Engagement before joining the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, retiring from this last position on July 1, 2011.
In addition, she devoted her life to her husband and children and many good friends. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening and animals, and she maintained a positive attitude throughout life.
Although an avid "mid-western girl," she lived and traveled throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Her latest travels were this past September with her husband to visit her son in Boston and daughter in Norway.
Kris was a loving wife and mother who cared for and enriched the lives of many students and friends; her lively and uplifting spirit will live forever in our hearts.
A memorial visitation for Kristine will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m., also at the Morgan Memorial Home, and the inurnment will be private at Mount Hope Cemetery, Champaign.
