Kreiman named district administrator/clerk of court

in 3rdJudicial District

Robert “Bob” Kreiman has been named as the new district administrator in the ThirdJudicial District (Las Animas and Huerfano counties) and clerk of Las Animas County Combined Courts. Kreiman will succeed John Garcia who is retiring after 33years in the position. The appointment becomes effective June 1, 2005.

“Our courtsdepend on highly skilled, diversely trained individuals to handle the many demands placed upon them,” says Third Judicial District Chief Judge Claude W. Appel. “When recruiting for this critical position, we looked for someone who is sensitive to the needs of the communities we serveand dedicated to delivering justice in an era when technology continues to change how we do our jobs.”

Kreiman, an eight-year employee of the judicial department, most recently served as a management analyst in the State Court Administrator’s Office in Denver. In his new position he will provide administrative leadership for the day-to-day business of the courts in the Third Judicial District. Hewill report directly to Chief Judge Appel.

Kreiman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from ColumbiaCollege in business administration and an associate’s degree in supervisory leadership from HawaiiPacificUniversity. During his tenure with the Colorado Judicial Department he has been a training assistant, operations review analyst, management analyst and worked on the department website.

The Third Judicial District has two district court judges,two county court judges, twentycourt and probation departmentemployees and five probationofficers.Some officers and employees work on a part-time basis or in several capacities in the courts and probation. In Fiscal Year 2004 there were 1,313 cases filed in district court and5,476 filings in county court. District probation personnel supervised 52 juvenile and 316 adult offenders during the same 12-month period.

“John Garcia will be sorely missed; however Bob’s management and technical skills will ease the transition and make him a tremendous asset to our courts,” adds Appel.
