October 2016 Newsletter

Grand Knights Notes:
Greetings!
We have many projects scheduled for the balance of this Fraternal Year. I do hope that more members become involved in our projects this Fraternal Year. We need many hands to accomplish the kinds of service projects we commit to; in keeping with Knights of Columbus basic tenants of service to all. Membership and Participation are of extreme importance if we are to thrive as a Knights of Columbus Council.
I am requesting that all past grand knights attend the October General Meeting. I have a special presentation for them, in acknowledgement of their hard work and dedication to our council during their time in office, and as an incentive to members to serve in this and other offices.

Unfinished Business:
We need volunteers to work at St James Place on October 17th. Volunteers can meet at St Regis parking lot at 3:45PM to carpool to St James Place. Or, volunteers can drive to St James Place to arrive at 4:00PM. POC: SK David Vorbeck.
The 2016 St Regis Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 after the 4:30PM Mass. We need to begin setup at 3:00PM. In the past, our council has run the beer booth/tent, and helped setup tables, chairs, etc., and has committed to do so again this year. I urge all members to place this event on their calendars, plan to attend, and help their brother knights accomplish this commitment to our parish.
New Business:
Our final Corporate Mass for 2016 is October 29th, at 4:30PM. Wear your red shirt to make the Knights of Columbus very visable to the congregation.
We are scheduled to host Hospitality Sunday, October 2nd, 2016. Volunteers are needed to setup before the 8:30AM Mass, and serve donuts and drinks after the 8:30AM Mass. Volunteers are also needed to serve donuts and drinks after the 10:30AM Mass, and cleanup after the 10:30AM Mass.
We will also have a Recruitment Drive the weekend of October 1st and 2nd after all the Masses. Father Sean will speak about the benefits of joining the Knights of Columbus during his homily. We ask that all members wear their red shirts and help after Mass to pass out information about the Knights, and to get names and phone numbers of prospective new members
Heads up, add to your calendars:
1. DDD Drive - October 15 - 16. Shifts: Saturday – 8-10 AM, 10-12 AM, 12-2PM. Sunday – after 8:30AM Mass – 12PM, after 10:30 AM Mass – 2PM. Pick your shift as this is a very important fundraiser for our council.
2. Church Recruitment Drive - March & October 2016. The first one is the weekend of 1st & 2nd in October.
3. Lenten Shrimp & Fish Dinners - Begin March 1st for six Fridays.
4. 2nd (Formation) & 3rd (Knighthood) exemplification ceremonies - Nov 5th, in the Parish Hall. Time is 12:00PM until 3:00PM. We request that candidates arrive at 11:30PM. Setup begins at 11:00PM. The menu, following the exemplification, will be discussed during the Officers’ meeting in September. Donations are appreciated.
5. Prepare Chili for Chiefs Tailgate - Nov 12th, at 8:00AM. Six volunteers are needed.
6. Ministry Fair - November 12th after the 4:30PM Mass and November 13th - after both the 8:00AM and 10:30AM Masses. Two volunteers are needed after each Mass.
7. Chiefs Tailgate Party- Serve Chili, etc. November 13th - beginning at 12:00PM. Four volunteers are needed.
