I. Gym Clothes
A. School uniforms and fees will be paid through the Physical Education Department on that campus. The uniform cost is $11.00 ($6.00 for maroon shorts, $5.00 for the gray shirt), and the Facility fees are $3.00 per semester, ($6.00 a year). The total for the year is $17.00.
NOTE: P.E. locks are returned at the end of the school year. The cost for replacement locks is $5.00.
B. Tennis shoes (NO backless or thick soled shoes allowed) and white socks must be worn. ONLY ATHLETIC FOOTWEAR.
C. PE uniforms will have the students name displayed in permanent ink, first and last. No other writing than the students name is allowed on the uniform. Any mutilation of the uniforms will result in purchasing a new uniform.
D. Uniforms should be taken home at the end of every week and laundered.
II. Suiting Out
A. STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE UNLESS THEY DRESS OUT.
B. The students are expected to dress out every day regardless of whether or not they are excused from active participation.
C. No other clothing is to be worn under or over gym suit.
D. During cold weather we allow the kids to wear sweat suits/warm-ups over their gym suit.
E. Grade deductions will be taken for the students who do not dress out.
F. For personal safety reasons, jewelry will not be worn to class. The first occurrence results in a warning and after that five points will be deducted for each day that the student wears jewelry.
III. Temporary Excuses
A. A signed excuse from the parent or guardian will be acceptable for a maximum of three days. The parental note should include a date, the reason for the excuse, the number of days to be excused, and the parent’s signature and phone number. This excuses the student from active participation only; suiting out will still be required. The student will also be required to complete a written assignment and turn it in to their coach to receive their points for that day.
B. Following this three-day period, a doctor’s note is required.
IV. Tardies
A. The student must be in his or her designated area on time for roll check or it will be counted as a classroom tardy.
V. Absences
A. Make-up work will be handled per student handbook. After an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to check with his/her instructor for any work missed.
VI. Locks and Lockers
A. Facility Fee- $6.00 PE Locks are to be returned at the end of the school year.
B. Lockers are assigned to each student and may not be changed or shared without coach’s permission.
C. A lock will be issued by the physical education department and is to be returned at the end of the year. Locks not returned or lost will be replaced at a cost of $5.00 to the student. Only locks issued by the physical education department are allowed. NO KEY LOCKS!
D. All articles must be locked in the locker at all times… this is the responsibility of the student, not the P.E. department.
VII. Health(One class day per week)
A. You will need a spiral notebook that stays in your P.E. locker and a pen that writes in blue or black ink.
VIII. Dressing Room Rules
A. To insure full daily grade credit, students must be dressed out completely (P.E. t-shirt, P.E. shorts, white socks, and athletic shoes) and participate in the day’s activity.
B. Shirt-tails must be worn tucked in at all times and shorts must be pulled up around the waist.
C. Students who do not dress out or refuse to cooperate or participate will be given P.E. rules to copy during class. Students will lose points and not be allowed to participate in the day’s activity
D. Continued non-compliance to the rules by a student may result in a discipline referral to the Assistant Principal’s office for further disciplinary action.
E. Gum chewing will not be permitted in any athletic/P.E. areas. No outside food (chips and candy) is allowed in the gym or dressing area.
F. When a student enters the dressing room, he/she will proceed to their dressing area or roll check, fully dressed when instructed by the teacher.
G. During the school day, no student will be allowed in the dressing room unless assigned to a physical education class at that time.
H. Running, fighting, horse playing, or abuse of school property in the dressing room will result in disciplinary action.
I. Backpacks are not allowed in the dressing room.
J. Aerosol sprays and glass containers of any kind are prohibited due to safety reasons.
K. At any time during the class period the instructor may remove a student from the activity for disruptive or inappropriate behavior and deduct the student’s points for the day.
IX. Grading
A. The importance of each area of grading is shown below:
B. Dressing out and Participation: 100 points a day
Shirt – 25 points
Shorts – 25 points
Participation – 50 points
(Health and Fitness day will be included in the Participation portion of the daily grade.)
