General Rules Fall 2006
General Rules:
Goalkeeper Possession—Once the Goalkeeper has a hand on the ball it is considered possession. An opposing player trying to kick the ball is a violation and a indirect free kick will be awarded.
Accidental contact with the Goalkeeper will result in an Indirect free kick.
Slide Tackling is not permitted.
No formal score is kept
No Standings are kept
Any rule not listed here defaults to the “WSYSA and FIFA Rules”
Substitutions are made on any Dead ball at the discretion of the Referee.
During play the Coach must inform the referee for a goalkeeper change.
At half time, the coach does not need to inform the referee of a goalkeeper change.
The goalkeeper may not pick up a ball that is passed by a teammate. If this happens, an indirect kick is awarded and ball is placed on the nearest line on the penalty area.
Age Group Specific Rules:
Coed U-6
2 X12 min half with 3 minute halftime
3 on 3
No Goalkeeper
Size 3 ball
No-goals on kickoffs
Throw ins- Stop play on foul throw give retry if fouls second try “play on”.
Corner kicks
All Free Kicks are Indirect
No referees…Coaches will administer the game…coaches can be on the field
No Offside
Boys U-7
2X15 min half
3 on 3 Plus 1 Goalkeeper if coaches agree and players are available.
Size 3 ball
No-goals on kickoffs
Throw ins- Stop play on foul throw give retry if fouls second try “play on.”
Corner kicks
All Free Kicks are Indirect
Referees when available
Goal kicks are taken between the end line and the first line.
No Offside
Boys & Girls U-8
2X25 min half
4 on 4
Goalkeeper must throw the ball once it is in their hands. No punts.
Size 3 Ball
Goals can be scored directly on kick offs
Throw in Stop play on foul throw give retry if fouls second try “play on.”

Goalkeeper can kick the ball.
