2016 – 2017

For the academic year 2016 – 2017, our school received £8181 in Sports Premium Funding. The table below shows how the money was allocated by the governors and the impact that was seen.

Overarching impact of the Sports Grant funding: At Kirk Hammerton we use the Sports Grant to develop attitudes for life: resilience, respect, tolerance, team work and compassion.

Our SIAMS inspection report (June 2017) states:

‘The Christian family environment of the school fosters deep caring relationships and mutual respect that enables pupils to thrive in their personal development and in their academic achievement.

Allocation / Amount / Reason / Impact
Membership of Boroughbridge School Sports Cluster / 9.5% / Access to multi sports training and competitions and participation in a range of different sports with a range of different schools.
This also provides a wider friendship group for children in a small school setting. / Children have applied skills learnt in PE lessons to competitive sessions, developed sporting attributes and raised their aspiration so that they can achieve in other curriculum areas.
Inclusion of children in the sports leader programme
Inclusion of children in the gifted and talented programme / 2.5% / To develop leadership and pupil voice. To develop ownership and responsibility, developing their life skills. / Children have developed leadership skills and applied PSHE skills in practical situations, raising their confidence. They have relayed information from meetings to school.
Transporting children to sporting events / 9% / To allow free transportation of all children to all events providing an inclusive approach. / All children, regardless of ability or financial hardship have accessed events, bringing equality and raising aspiration.
Staff cover whilst children are at sporting events / 2.5% / To allow adequate supervision of children at sporting events. / This has allowed participation in the events.
Sports sessions for children and in lesson staff support from specialist coaches / 35% / To provide specialist subject knowledge and therefore high quality ongoing provision of PE. / Extra-curricular opportunities for all children in school have engaged, developed team skills, enthusiasm for learning and emotional resilience.
In school coaching has provided specialist knowledge and equipment.
Resources and equipment / 20% / New resources to provide sufficient equipment for teaching our planned PE curriculum.
Resources bought for playground games. / Resources have provided sufficient opportunities for all children to access teaching and to improve their skills in lessons and break times.

20% of the funding has been carried over to the next academic year for future projects.
