King’s Lynn Edward Benefer Way to LynnsportAccess Road

UpdateNo.21

Traffic Management

There are currently two-way traffic lights on Front Way and Reid Way, these will be in place until 20thNovember. Following the two-way lights there will be a road closure on Front Way and Reid Way for a week between the 21st and 25th November. There may be a need for a further week of two-way lights on Front Way after the road closure depending on the weathers impact on our surfacing works.

To carry-out the construction works around the main entrance to the Lynnsport building and aligning the new road with the existing, we will need to close the road outside Lynnsport (the area between the southern car park entrance and the new access for buses and drop-off). Whilst these works are being completed the southern car park can be accessed via Greenpark Avenue, but the disabled parking in front of Lynnsport and the northern car park cannot. The northern car park (including disability bays) can be accessed via Front Way over the new Bawsey Drain crossing. This diversion will be in place from 28th November for 3 weeks.

Progress

Kerbs have been laid both sides of the Bawsey Drain crossing, this now defines the route of the new road from Front Way towards Lynnsport.

Chambers three and four are now completed. The photograph below shows the temporary works have been removed and the chambers are awaiting backfilling and their access ladders and concrete lids. All the culvert and chamber works between Spencer Road and Reid Way are now completed.

Chambers 3 and 4.

The base layers for the new road have been laid for almost half the length between Spencer Road and Reid Way, as are the combined kerb-drains.

New access road

The footway around the running track has been improved as an additional element of works. Due to the poor ground conditions this has a much thicker construction than a standard footway and sub base is laid wider than the path above to help provide additional support.

TheInternal Drainage Board have completed their connection into Chamber 1 and are continuing to progress with the works at the pumping station.
