LOGISTICAL DETAILS

The entire conference venue will take place within the historic premises of SidneySussexCollege, one of the most centralCollege of Cambridge founded in 1596. Directions of how to get to Cambridge and to SidneySussexCollegeare provided below. Once you arrive at the main entrance of Sidney Sussex please ask the College porter (reception)for your key. They can also direct you to theConference welcoming desk from which you can collect any further relevant information material (programme, book of abstracts etc). The Office will be open between 12:00-20:00 on the 28th of September and will reopen at 8:00 pm on Monday.Please note the following details regarding the scheduling of the event:

Sunday 28th of September – Arrival date

Please go the College (main entrance) and check in and collect your room keys. The porters lodge is open 24 hours a day so no need to worry if you are delayed in getting into town.

There are no activities scheduled for the day of 28th of September so you may take the opportunity of strolling around the historic city centre. Details of places to visit, restaurants pubs etc. can be found at: In the evening we will hold a welcoming reception at [state time7-8:30] at the [state room] Room in the College where drinks and light snacks will be offered. Delegates are encouraged to sample the nearby restaurants and pubs for dinner on the 28th.

For delegates staying at SidneySussexCollege

-Breakfast: On Monday from 7.45-8.45 and on Tuesday from 7.30-8.30 in College Hall.

-Lunch : 12.30-13.30 on both days, in the College Hall

-Dinner: 20.00-22.00 in the College Hall on Monday.

-Pre- dinner reception: in the College Hall.

-Internet access: not available in rooms. Internet access is available in the ‘Garden Court Room’. A key should be got from the porters lodge, and it should be returned each time after use.

-Keys and Checking in: please check in and collect your room keys at the Porter’s Lodge (the reception office in the main entrance of the College)

-Final check out on Tuesday 30th: ALL rooms need to be vacated by 9:30. Keys to be handed back to the College Porter (at main gate). The Porter can advise as to where to store luggage for the remaining of the day.

- If you need to be reached from the outside you may use the number at the Porters Lodge (no. 0044 1223 338800) and they will take a message and pass it on you.

- There are also two phone booths; one is in the Porter’s lodge and one in the entrance to Garden Court, just behind the stairs. Both phones take coins and a card.

- Conference restrooms: located in the William Mong Hall, via Chapel Court. A restroom can also be found in the Knox-Shaw Room, on Cloister Court.

- Taxi Service: You can call a taxi from the Porters Lodge or walk approx 200 meters to the nearest taxi rack.

Travel and local area information

Reaching Cambridge:

From StanstedAirport: The rail station is beneath the airport. Trains run regularly from Stansted to Cambridge and take less than half an hour. For fares and timetable please see: Once at the Cambridge station, take a bus or a taxi to the town centre, and the College is a few minutes walk away.

There is also a direct coach service from/to the airport:

From HeathrowAirport: Upon arriving at HeathrowAirport there is a direct coach service from the Central Bus Station to the centre of Cambridge. The Central Bus Station is well signed and coach tickets for all services can be purchased from the Travel Centre in the station. If you prefer to pre-book your ticket, or wish to check timetables or fares, this can be done at

Coaches leave Heathrow approximately every 30 minutes, and take approximately 2.5 hours to reach Cambridge. Coaches arrive at Parkside but stop (next to the ParkersPiecePark).

From other airports: Coaches are also available from Gatwick to Cambridge (4 hours) and Luton to Cambridge (1.5 hours).

From Central London: Trains are available to Cambridge from Kings Cross Station (approximately 1 hour) and Liverpool St Station (1-1.5 hours). See for further details.

Reaching SidneySussexCollege once in Cambridge:

SidneySussexCollege is located in the heart of the historic part of Cambridge at Sidney Street. Please use on line map (e.g for directions. From the train station search from “Station Road, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB1, United Kingdom (Cambridge Railway Station)” to “Sidney Street, Cambridge, UK” (approx 25 minutes walk).

From bus station search for from “Parkside, Cambridge” to “Sidney Street, Cambridge, UK”(approx. 15 minutes walking).

If you do not wish walk you can take a taxi outside the bus top or train station (5 minutes)

Taxi from airports:
