Report Card Rubric

Dear Parents,

The end of the year rubric is a culmination of all the California Kindergarten State Standards. We have been building upon these expectations throughout the school year. At this point mastery is expected in all academic areas. This is the final reporting period.

Reading Progress Toward Standards

Overall Score:

4= Consistently shows evidence = 0 check marks

3= Usually shows evidence = 1 check mark

2= Sometimes shows evidence = 2 check marks

1= Rarely shows evidence = 3 check marks

Check mark= area of concern

Letter Recognition: 54 or less = check mark

Sound Recognition: 26 or less = check mark

Phoneme Segmentation Fluency: 45 in one minute or less = check mark

Concepts of Print: 10 or less = check mark

Decoding and Word Recognition: oral text reading: pass “Book B” or a check mark

BPST: 31 or less= check mark

Writing Progress Toward Standards

Overall Score:

4= 0 check marks and consistently shows evidence

3= Only a check mark in penmanship

2= Only a check mark in writing about experiences (journal writing)

1= Check mark in both areas

Journal Writing: check mark if not doing the following:

Structure-

-write beginning, middle and ending sounds of words

-capitalization at the beginning of the sentence or a name (rest of the letters are lower case)

-demonstrates two finger space between words

-Uses proper ending punctuation

Content-

-writing about experiences, stories, people objects or events

Topic: Baby chicks- science unit in class

Penmanship: check mark if 48/52 or less correct (reversals are counted as incorrect)

English Language Conventions Progress Toward Standards

Overall Score:

4= 0 check marks and consistently shows evidence

3= Only a check mark in oral sentence structure and/or usually shows evidence

2= Only a check mark in spelling

1= Check mark in both areas

Oral Sentence Structure: check mark if they don’t consistently demonstrate speaking in complete, grammatically correct sentences

Spelling Using Phonetic Knowledge: check mark if 16/18 or less on high frequency words and 8/10 or less on CVC words
