FUNDRAISING OFFICER

Main job purpose / To support the implementation of a fund-raising strategy designed to generate required income, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining and building existing relationships with Young Enterprise’s supporting Trusts and Foundations and public sector funders.

Be creative and innovative in generating funds from, trusts, government and European sources, including writing bids and proposals / Young Enterprise’s income is generated from a variety of sources and all avenues are explored
To maintain positive relations, with Young Enterprise’s existing Trust and public sector accounts. / Young Enterprise’s supporting organisations are kept informed of progress and a positive relationship between YE and them is built and maintained.
To undertake or manage all requirements for reporting back to funding supporters on funding project progress and outcomes / Young Enterprise fulfils its reporting obligations with regards to funding support in a timely and accurate manner.
To manage and maintain relevant and accurate data as required within the YE CRM system and protocols. / Young Enterprise retains a full and accurate database of all fundraising activities to help support and inform future fundraising.
Carry out research (mainly web-based) to inform the development and implementation of the fundraising strategy and provide background for bid and proposal writing / Fundraising applications are well-targeted, informed and thoroughly researched in order to maximise the chances of success

The above tasks are not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the charity and its overall objectives.

SKILLS/ ATTRIBUTES/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

Essential / A successful track record as a fundraiser, generating significant donation income from, Trusts, Foundations and Government bodies.
Experience of bid-writing and/ or creating and delivering sales pitches that were successful
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong persuasive and negotiating skills which result in positive outcomes, with the resilience and motivation to overcome initial negative responses to proposals
A positive ‘can-do’ attitude that will enthuse prospective and current supporters, colleagues and volunteers
Strong organisational and time management skills - Deadline aware
Confident use of the Internet as well as standard office IT packages e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Access (or other databases)
Adaptable and responsive to the needs of a small not for profit organisation which relies heavily on a large volunteer network
Desirable / Experience of the not for profit/charity sector.
Comfortable communicating at all levels within the organisation.
At least a basic knowledge of current education initiatives, practice and thinking as relevant to the work of Young Enterprise.
