Swim Ireland Education Business Development Manager

Swim Ireland is seeking to appoint adynamic and enthusiasticBusiness Development Manager who has a strong interest in sport and education with a proven track record in a business environment.

Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body for the Aquatic Disciplines in Ireland, recognised as such by the Irish Government, Sport Ireland, Sport Northern Ireland, the Olympic Council of Ireland and FINA and LEN, the World and European Aquatic Governing Bodies.

The Education Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing the Education Department within Swim Ireland, in particular the day to day business operations, Education and Training Coursesprovision and development.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Develop and grow the business activities and processes within the Swim Ireland Education Department
  • Oversee Course delivery to ensure that all Courses are run to the appropriate standard and are cost effective
  • Create a targeted strategy plan to identify market opportunities and set clear objectives for business growth
  • Drive the development of online Education delivery through the use of Moodle and other relevant systems
  • Increase and grow the revenue and catalogue of Courses on offer with particular emphasis on Continued Professional Development
  • Monitor and manage departmental income and expenditure against an agreed budget
  • Develop and nurture effective relationships with key stakeholders and in particular the Leisure & Recreation industry
  • Further develop the Swim Ireland Education Programme in conjunction with the Education Technical Personnel
  • Manage and develop the Education Team Staff.

Supervises / Education Department Staff
Role / To manage Swim Ireland’s Education Department, in particular the day to day business operations, Education and Training Course delivery and revenue growth.
The successful candidate will be a hands on,dynamic andenthusiasticbusiness development manager who has a strong interest in sport and educationwith a proven track record in a business environment.
Responsibilities / Responsibilities for the Education Business Development Manager will include:
Department Growth
  • Develop and growthe business activities and processes within the Swim Ireland Education Department
  • Create a targeted strategy plan to identify market opportunitiesand set clear objectives for business growth
  • Oversee Course delivery to ensure that all Courses and activities are run to appropriate standards and cost effectiveness
  • Drive the development of online Education delivery through the use of Moodle and other digital platforms
  • Increase and grow the revenue and catalogue of Courses and programmes on offer with particular emphasis on CPDs.
Financial Management
  • Monitor and manage departmental income and expenditure against an agreed budget
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures within the department
  • Invoice facilities/Course organisers and liaise with the Swim Ireland Finance Department in relation to all payments and expenses in line with financial policy
  • Oversee Course deliveryto ensure that all Courses are run to maximise cost effectiveness and review all associated income and expenditure.
Relationship Development
  • Develop and nurture effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to promote and build reputational standing of Swim Ireland
  • Manage the relationship/partnership with facilities, clubs, Course organisers and Tutors
  • Develop relationships within the industry and lead in creating greater awareness of Swim Ireland’s role within the industry.
Day to Day Operations
  • Responsible for planning, preparing, organising and follow up of all Education & Training Courses and CPDs
  • Communicate regularly with Course organisers and issue Course information
  • Undertake staff management responsibilities for the Education Team
  • Work with the Swim Ireland Marketing Manager to develop promotional resources and ensure regular advertisement of Courses and CPDs
  • Any other duties as required.

Selection Criteria including qualifications, knowledge and experience, and skills and attributes / Essential / Desirable
Qualifications
Educated to Degree level with at least fiveyears of relevant experience or at least eight years relevant industry experience / 
Current and clean drivers’ licence / 
Swim Ireland Teaching/Coaching qualifications / 

Previous experience in business development / 
Proven track record of delivering revenue growth in a business environment / 
Previous experience in a managerial position / 
Experience of managing multiple projects at once / 
Experience in developing financial models/budgets / 
Experience of working as part of a team / 
Proven track record in a hands on operational role / 
Experience in dealing with community and voluntary organisations / 
Strong business knowledge of the aquatic industry / 
Technical knowledge of aquatics (coaching and teaching) / 
Experience with use and development of online learning / 
