Kewaunee County Garden Club Scholarship

The Kewaunee County Garden Club is offering scholarships to qualified student applicants pursuing a degree in the field of horticulture/or related to horticulture. Full time students can qualify for up to $1,000.00 per school year and part time students can qualify for up to $500.00 per school year.

Previous applicants may reapply each year up to 4 years in their school career.

Applicant Requirements

1. Must be a resident of Kewaunee County.

2. Must be enrolled or accepted in a technical school, college, or university and will pursue a degree in the field of horticulture or a related field. (To be approved by the scholarship committee.)

3. 10 hours of approved community service work in the field of horticulture. Some suggestions include: Volunteering for various K.C. Garden Club projects, gardening at non-profit institutions such as churches or libraries, yard work for the elderly or disabled. There are many places that could use an extra pair of gardening hands or expertise. Feel free to come up with your own ideas. The hours must be completed before scholarship money is received. Please include your plan with your application.

4. Must meet all deadlines and requirements of the scholarship application in order to be considered.

Selection Basis

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:

1. Completion of the application and all requirements.

2. Two written recommendations that support the applicant's interest/commitment to horticulture.

Selection Process

The scholarship committee of the Kewaunee County Garden Club will make the recommendations to the club based on the above required criteria information provided by the applicant.

Because of the unique criteria listed, the KC Garden Club reserves the right to not award a scholarship in any given year if the criteria listed is not met.

Two (2) written recommendations from a professor, instructor, job or project supervisor are required. They can be included with your application or sent separately.

Actual financial award will be made on evidence of satisfactory completion of course work demonstrated by a copy of your grades for the semester and a written description of the 10 hours of community service.
