Celebrations
Student of the Week
Brenton was a recent Student of the Week. Congratulations, and continue your commitment to excellence!
Accelerated Reader (AR)
Gains galore! These students have increased their AR points between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3: Reagan, Anthony, Amy, Eleanor, Navi, Sophie, Gabrielle, Karly, Levi, Brenton, Alijah, Cecilia, Sadie, Adrianna, Elijah, and Sascha. Brenton and Navi have reached the SECOND goal of 20 points early.
Math Facts in a Flash (MFIAF)
Between Mon. and Thurs., the following students persevered and made gains: Anthony (from Level 20 to Level 24); Sophie (Level 5 to Level 6); Karly (from Level 6 to Level 12); Levi (from Level 15 to Level 21); Brenton (Level 22 to Level 25); and Elijah (Level 3 to Level 5). Best of all, they are encouraging their classmates to practice, stay focused, and not give up.
Character Counts! Reception
Karly and Reagan were recognized on Fri., Nov. 4. Karly received the Pillar of Fairness award, and Reagan was the recipient of the Pillar of Responsibility. Thank you to both of these students for representing our class and exhibiting good character each day.
Awesome Sauce
Yes, we have amazing students in our class. In addition to Dandy Dolphins and SOTW, they’ll be recognized for their good character, thoughtfulness, and all-around outstanding positive attitude. Our first Awesome Sauce recipient is ADDYSON.
Poetry Breaks: Playing with Language
To keep the mind and body alert, we take poetry breaks. Students stand by their seat or spread out around the room. They listen to a poem, then on the second read, act it out. This is a fun way for the students to be creative and demonstrate their comprehension (LAFS.2.RL.4.10). Your child can visit and for hundreds of funny, silly poems and lots of laughs.
Family Photos
I’ve received family photos from 10 students, and would like 7 more to make our room complete. If you have not yet sent a 4X6 (vertical) photo, please consider doing so. The picture can be with mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, and/or any you call family. I have many individual student photos. The personal family pictures add a special touch to our room, and are a source of comfort for the children (me, too!). Questions? Send me a note in Dojo.
