GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Eligibility. The Kenwood Seniors Golf Association (KSGA) is chartered for the purpose of creating and managing a program for all seniors age 55 and older who are Kenwood membership category B, B+, L or W members.
  2. Events. The program endeavors to assure a wide variety of golfing events and venues to attract seniors to participate in and enjoy both the Kenwood golf course and nearby clubs. There are two major components to the KSGA program. First is a series of events and tournaments solely for KSGA members. A second series of events and tournaments are in conjunction with our membership in the Maryland Interclub Senior Golf Association (MISGA). MISGA events are of three varieties (Mixers, Tournaments and MISGA sponsored trips that members may sign up for and pay an extra fee to attend and play). The schedule for the KSGA and MISGA events for 2014 is included below in this program.
  3. Costs. The KSGA membership dues are currently $25 per year and are billed to your Kenwood account annually after signing up. KSGA members are automatically members of MISGA and can participate in all MISGA events. The cost of KSGA tournaments varies from $15 per event to approximately $75 for our excellent Member-Guest event. Cost for each event is noted inthe section of this program called Way of Play. The price for MISGA mixers at Kenwood for 2014 will be around $49 for each event. The fee includes coffee, donuts, range balls, cart fee, lunch, and prize money. Greens fees are waived for all MISGA events. Costs of away mixers vary.
  4. Entry. Sign up sheets for all home events will be available in the Pro Shop at least one week in advance. Sign up can be made in person or by calling the Pro Shop staff and asking to be placed on the list. For all away events we will be using the online signup system called Signup Genius once again. To use this system, the system administrator must have your correct email address, and enter it into the system. As a backup, you can also sign up in the pro shop.
  5. Limited field away events. When a club we are visiting places a limit on the number of players we can bring, we will use the following priorities to select players:
  6. Officers and volunteers
  7. Participants in at least one home mixer within one year
  8. Participants in at least one KSGA tournament within one year
  9. Participation in other KSGA events (Senior Tuesdays, clinics, etc.)
  10. Pairings. Pairings and foursomes are made by the Pro Staff (except Member-Guest) for most events. Foursomes in MISGA events are assigned by handicap to insure teams are relatively equal, since foursomes are usually comprised of two players from the host club and two players from visiting clubs. Each foursome competes against all other foursomes in the field for the prize money.
  11. Rules and Handicaps. All play is in accordance with USGA Rules of Golf and Handicap System. Range finding devices are permitted in all KSGA events. Members are expected to post their scores from all events to maintain a current handicap.
  12. Cancellation Policy. For all away events, if you cancel within three days of the event, it is your responsibility to contact the club’s pro shop. During those last three days, do not use Signup Genius to cancel. For home events, please notify the pro shop at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to notify the pro shopcauses disruption to the start of play, as pairings have to be changed, and bags moved around.

Senior Tuesdays

These are fun events on open Tuesdays. Entire entry fee of $10 goes to prize money. Possible formats include:

  • Par 3 Championship: All eighteen holes are set up as par three holes. Low gross and low net champions.
  • Choker: A choker tournament uses four- or three-person teams in which one team member goes it alone on each hole, with his score required to count as half the team score for that hole. That puts a lot of pressure on that player to perform - and also gives him the chance to choke.
  • Four of Clubs: As the name implies, you can only use 4 clubs during the round, one of which must be your putter.
  • Pinehurst Alternate Shot: Similar to an ordinary scotch foursomes, except you pick your best drive, and then play alternate shot until the ball is holed. However, you must use at least two drives from each player on each nine.
  • Match of 33: You play as a threesome. Out of the 54 holes the team plays, you must count the net scores on 33. After each hole is played, and before teeing off at the next hole, you decide how many scores to count, either 0,1,2, or 3. Team score is the total for the 33 holes.
