OLD BUSINESS
2017 KGAConference: Tracy Steinburg Goodman will be the chairperson of this year’s conference. The theme of the conference is “Back to Basics.” Members of the committee to date are Robin Boggs, Leslie Burger, Danny Keeton, and Camille Collins. The Thomas Clark History Center in Frankfort remains the preferred location. The preferred dates for the 2017 conference will be forwarded to the History Center. Those dates are, in order, October 6; September 22; and, September 29.
Tentative speakers and subjects: President of the NGA – Ethics and Standards of Practice; “ABLE Act” – someone from Ohio who deals with the subject matter; and, and a presentation regarding Ethics and Standards of Practice in Kentucky Law.
Membership: Becky reports that Page 2 of the Treasurer’s Report shows members who have paid dues. Additionally, the membership form is on the website.
Elder Serve will join KGA as a corporation.
Public Awareness:
Optimal Aging Conference (OAC): KGA was offered a poster session not a workshop, and declined to accept the offer, but will be present as a vendor. The OAC is scheduled to be held in Louisville, June 11 – 13. Becky paid the $350.00 fee for the booth in March 2017. Adanne and Becky will attend this conference. Danny may attend to cover the table while the others attend different sessions.
Handbook and Video:
Still waiting to hear from the KBA regarding status of the grant for video and handbook.
Pooled Trust: Eileen agreed to chair the Residual trust Committee.
Legal Research: HB 63 (2017) continues to sit in the House Judiciary Committee, any further action on the Bill during this session is doubtful. This HB 63, if passed, would make jury trials optional rather than mandatory for disability determinations in Kentucky.
NEW BUSINESS:
Public Awareness: Becky will attend the ARC of Kentucky Meeting. The booth fee is $60.00.
Motion to Adjourn Johnny Calebs, seconded Danny Keeton, all approved.
Meeting Adjourned at 5:50 PM, EDT.
Next meeting: Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at McClelland and Associates, PLLC, 5:15 PM EST.
