Personal statement

I graduated in 2010 from Queens University Belfast with a Commendation in Irish Translation Studies. I have been employed as an Irish language teacher in a Gaeltacht college and also tutored A-Level students in preparation for their Irish oral exams since graduating.

Due to the economic climate after graduation I moved to Manchester in 2011 to gain employment at Manchester Metropolitan University in various administrative roles. This experience has allowed me to develop a host of skills including attention to detail, time management, communication skills, organisational skills and technical skills.

I keep up to date with Irish language events using resources, such as nos.ie, Raidio na Gaeltachta, tearma.ie etc. I hold Associate Membership from the ITIA (Irish Translators and Interpreters Association) and also intend to take the translation accreditation exam offered by Foras na Gaeilge.

I have previously carried out technical legal and manufacturing translations for translation companies such as Forenix and Wagner Consulting.
