This year’s 5th and 6th grade musical at Maple Point Middle School will be "THE Jungle Book Kids”The Directors will select participants based upon the information contained in this application.
ABOUT THE SHOW: “The Jungle Book Kids” was the last animated feature that Walt Disney personally supervised although he did die during its production. It wasreleased in 1967and became a blockbuster hit. Its winning combination of captivating characters, humor, drama and music has made it one of Disney’s most beloved animated features”. Some notable songs from this production are “I Wanna Be Like You” and “The Bare Necessities.”
The plot of The Jungle Book begins deep in the heart of the jungle where Mowgli the Man-cubis raised by wolves.When Shere Khan, the tiger decides Mowgli is no longer welcome in the jungle, Bagheera the panther plans to guide him back to the safety of the man-village. Mowgli refuses to leave and catches the interest of Kaa the snake who would like to eat him. Bagheera rescues him just in time for an elephant stampede led by Colonel Hathi. Mowgli meets an ally in Baloo the bear who offers his carefree philosophy in life When Mowgli is kidnapped by monkeys, even Baloo realizes the jungle is no longer safe for Mowgli.

THE DIRECTORS’ EXPECTATIONS:
- Students will attend ALL scheduled rehearsals.
- Students will turn in ALL FORMS & PAYMENTS by Friday, March 18th.
- We may or may not utilize the scheduled Saturday rehearsals, please clear these dates.
- Conflicts with the rehearsal schedule must be included on the application and will be dealt with on an individual basis. Please try to reschedule weekly conflicts for the duration of the show.
- NO ONE CAN BE EXCUSED FROM DRESS REHEARSALS OR SHOWS!
In addition . . .
Every member of the show is important, whether you have a speaking part, are a member of the chorus (company). We need to rehearse as a group so we can have the best show possible. As a show develops, stage directions often change, that is why we are looking for a full commitment from everyone.
Also . . .
Because every member of the show has an important role, it is extremely difficult to replace anyone in the show. If you make this commitment, follow through. PLEASE DON’T QUIT!!
Last but not least . . .
Keep up with your homework. It is hard work day after day, but you will have a great time and make memories with new friends that will last a lifetime. Enjoy the experience!
