10.2KADS & KNA Competition

KNA believes that the Development Squad athletes should be given every opportunity to participate in match play throughout the season. This includes competing in their appropriate age group within their own club/team and being a part of KADS and occasionally playing for a team in an age group above their own age in the weekly association competition.

Subject to volunteer availability and at the discretion of the association, one, two or all 3 KADS squads may be run as follows:

OPTION 1

oPlay in the association competition in their respective age group. For example, an athlete turning 14 in 2018 must participate in the 14&Under division with their club/team and if successful, compete in the 17&Under division for KADS when required by your coach.

oAll participants of KADS 12 & 14 will be play a minimum of 12 quarters throughout the season in the KADS team during KNA competition (subject to injury, availability and commitment to training)

oKADS games will not be included in ‘ladders’ and KADS teams will not participate in finals in the KNA winter competition. The focus is ‘development.’

OPTION 2

  • KADS squad(s) do not participate in KNA competition but will have one specialised training session a week until North West Netball Championships (3rd weekend in June). After the conclusion, only those athletes talent identified through NWNC will continue to receive specialist training. This training may cease after Academy & Cadet Cups held in Perth have concluded. Other athletes may be invited to attend as training partners.
