ACCESS FLOORINGS

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01SUMMARY

  1. Access Floors

Access flooring is a complete assembly of modular floor panels on an elevated support system (understructure), forming an accessible underfloor cavity to accommodate electrical and mechanical services.

1.02SUBMITTALS

  1. General: Submit listed submittals in accordance with conditions of the contract.
  1. Product Data: Submit product data for specified products.
  1. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings showing the layout.
  2. Shop drawings indicating complete layout of access flooring based of field verified dimensions.
  3. Include details indicating materials, finishes, fasteners, typical and special edge conditions, accessories, understructure, and other data.
  4. Shop drawings shall be submitted and approved before ordering of material.
  1. Samples: Submit samples for initial selection and color charts of the required floor finish.
  1. Quality Assurance Submittals:
  2. Manufacturer’s Instructions: Manufacturer’s installation instructions.
  3. Manufacturer’s Field Reports: Manufacturer’s field reports specified herein.
  1. Close Out Submittals:
  1. Operation & Maintenance Manuals: Operation and maintenance data for installed products to include methods of maintenance, precautions against cleaning material and methods that may be detrimental to finishes and performance.
  2. Project Warranty: Refer to conditions of the contract.

1.03QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. Installer’s Qualification: Installers experienced in performing work similar to that required for this project.
  1. Pre-Installation Meetings: Conduct pre installation meetings to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, manufacturer’s installation instructions and manufacturer’s warranty requirements.

1.04DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING

  1. Ordering: Comply with manufacturer’s ordering instructions and lead time to avoid construction delays.
  1. Delivery: Deliver material in manufacturer’s original, unopened, undamaged containers with identification label.
  1. Storage and Protection: Store materials protected from exposure to harmful weather conditions and at temperatures and humidity conditions recommended by the manufacturer.

1.05PROJECT CONDITION

  1. Field Measurements: Verify actual dimensions from the site before fabrication, show recorded measurements on shop drawings.
  1. Co-ordinate field measurement and fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays.

1.06MAINTENANCE

  1. Extra material of the products installed should be properly packed, labelled and handed over to the owner for maintenance purpose.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01ACCESS FLOORING.

  1. Manufacturer: Kanwall Inc. Canada.
  2. Products: Kanfloor - KFN Series

Fully welded die formed steel panels with cementitious fill. Panels with plastic laminate or conductive vinyl tile finish shall have factory installed grounding clip attached to panel’s edge.

2.02MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS

  1. Kanfloor – KFN Series – Concrete Filled Steel Panels
  2. Construction: Fully welded die formed steel panels with cementitious fill. Panels have a die formed all steel bottom pan consisting of embossments bottom section, welded to a die cut full hard steel top sheet to form a structural unitized construction. Panels are filled with light weight cementitious fill. Panels are finished with HPL or conductive vinyl tile. Carpet tiles are laid separately.
  3. Panel Details:

a.Nominal Panel Size: 24”x24”, 600x600mm.

b. Nominal Thickness: 1-1/4” (32mm).

  1. Understructure
  2. Pedestals: Standard pedestal assembly including base, column with provisions for height adjustments and head made of steel.
  3. Base: Square Base plate with vibration proof mechanism for making fine adjustments in height levelling including locking mechanism for holding panels at selected heights.
  4. Pedestals adjusting rods are constructed of minimum 3/4” (20mm) solid steel and vertical column of round steel tubing.
  5. All components have rust prohibitive finish and precision resistance welded.
  6. Pedestal headswill accept bolted/screwed stringers.
  7. Stringers: Modular steel stringer system interlocks with pedestal head and forms grid pattern with pedestals and floor panel. Steel components are protected against corrosion with rust prohibitive finish.
  8. Heavy-duty bolted/screwed Grid: Stringers are bolted/screwed to pedestal heads. Grids can be formed in different patterns of 24”x24”, 48”x48” or 48”x24” (600x600mm, 1200x1200mm or 1200x600mm).
  9. Colors and Finishes: Panels are finished with HPL, Conductive PVC tile or carpet tiles.Colors will be as per manufacturer’s standard colors.
  10. Panel Lifting Device: Standard portable lifting device required for lifting panels with floor covering.

Perforated Panels: Perforated panels with or without dampers and 25% or 17% freeopen area with same finish as other panels.

2.03SOURCE QUALITY

  1. Source Quality: Obtain access floor components from one manufacturer.

2.04 SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS.

  1. Panels are designed, engineered and fabricated as per manufacturers load bearing capacities to suit specific applications.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Compliance: Comply with manufacturer’s product data, including product installation instructions.

3.02EXAMINATION

  1. Site Verification of Conditions: Verify project conditions,installation area should be within manufacturer specified limits.

3.03INSTALLATION

A. Install access floor system and accessories to ensure rigid, firm and installation free of vibration, rocking, rattle, squeaks, and other unacceptable performance.

B.Set Pedestals on adhesive as recommended by manufacturer.

3.04CLEANING

  1. Cleaning: Remove temporary coverings and protection to adjacent work areas. Repair or replace damaged installed parts. Clean installed parts and remove construction debris from project site and legally dispose off debris.
  1. Touch Up: Touch up minor blemishes and repairs.

3.05PROTECTION

  1. Protection: Protect installed products and finished surfaces from damage during construction.
