K. Eric Johnson born December 21, 1981 died unexpectedly Sunday, January 6, 2013. He wasthe beloved son of Karl Johnson and Susan Theriault, esteemed older brother to Ian Johnson, and cherished nephew and cousin to all the members of the Johnson and Theriault families. His circle of friends was large. His loss leaves a crater in our hearts. With a halo of blond hair and clear blue eyes as well as a contagious chuckle that readily acknowledged the amusements of everyday life, Eric charmed and inspired all of us who knew and loved him. He was an avid skier – breaking his right leg one winter and then for good measure, his left the following season. With his mother and brother, he later rollerbladed and mountain biked, sharing long afternoons building the bonds of a profound brotherly friendship. From his father, he learned the art and appreciation of all things beautifully designed and conscientiously crafted. He graduated from St. Paul’s High School in Bristol, CT in 2000 where he cultivated friendships that he maintained until today. Eric earned a degree in finance from the University of Harford in 2004. Under the tutelage of his aunt, Janice Theriault he began working at Arbor Benefit Group in Farmington, CT where he was promoted to Director of Underwriting. Professionally, he was respected for his business acumen as well as popular with his colleagues for his easy going disposition. Eric was devoted and compassionate with all of his friends but particularly to those in need. Eric was admired, too, for his stoic management of the challenges life gave him early; his compassion in the face of his mother’s devastating illness was a reminder that even the young can be heroic. His death is a profound tragedy. But his life was a blessing to all of us who knew and loved him.
