  1. Expansion

A) Randy gave back ground on why he is seeking games from the Alberta teams and the possible scenarios he would like to see.

Advised could pick up visiting teams hotel rooms to offset costs.

Believes his team could be competitive at Tier I.

Has committed to Founders Cup last four years.

Exhibition is a happy exchange.

Financial questions.

Could be possible travel problems.

Commitment from the Jr. B RMLL clubs for interlocking exhibition games with Saskatoon throughout the year based on the schedule. Could include pre & post season games as well.

Will review towards possible expansion for upcoming years.

B) Rob from Red Deer present a written formal application for an expansion team to be given to the RDMLA of Red Deer.

Application read is included with this email as document to be present to RMLL executive.

Ron motioned to accept Red Deer’s application for expansion to the Jr. B Tier I division. 2nd David. Carried unanimously.

Tom Engel came into meeting to voice the ALA concern over post midget lacrosse at the Jr. levels. Discussed graduating midgets and their numbers and he feels all levels must meet to discuss these problems. Also his feels on the transfer policy and that it was not out soon enough.

Short discussion and most felt expansion at this competitive level can not just be forced, due to players commitment and the cost of running a team at this level. But with an understanding the additional number of players and expansion at the level above and below will affect the Jr. B division and players involved.

  1. Draft

Calgary runs a city wide draft.

Edmonton runs as clubs with boundaries.

Proposal that the North teams meet to begin formal discussions on a creation of a system like the CMBLA a/o another type of governing.

This would need to be both Jr. B and Tier 2

  1. Scheduling

Make scheduler aware ofweekends or dates that we do not want games played on due to rink availability or events going on in the cities ex: Stampede, Canada Days, Tradition Lives or other tournaments that may conflict.

Mix up games not back to back playing the same team when traveling.

Watch scheduling for the south division, as affiliates were unavailable for call up do to similar schedules.

Games to stay on weekends.

Schedule to begin the weekend of April 29 and 30

20 regular season games realizing schedule will be off balance.

  1. Playoffs

All teams make the playoffs.

Scenario 1 Red Deer In:

1st round - 1st gets the bye. Remaining 6 plays a best of 3. 2-7, 3-6, 4-5

2nd round – 1st plays the lowest ranking winner, remaining play off in best of 3’s

Finals – best of 5

In all rounds the highest placing team will be the home team.

Scenario 2 six teams:

1st round – top 2 get the bye. 3-6, 4-5 best of 3

2nd round – highest vs. lowest, best of 3

Finals – best of 5

In all rounds the highest placing team will be the home team

  1. Operating Policy

Decided that teams operate under governing bodies with bylaws so individual teams do not need them.

Section 3.04

1st paragraph will need to be changed to show Central Alberta players south of Leduc and north of Didsbury will be the property of Red Deer not free agents.

2nd paragraph is not applicable as there is no draft in the north

Motion to change Dan, 2nd by Bill carried

  1. National Tournaments

Have RMLL executive insure the ALA represents the changes to provincial levels proposed to move Jr. B from level 3 to a level 1 at Founders.

Ontario is the only level 1 B.C. is level 2 so if movement is required only move one level to a level 2 which would still allow pick ups.

It is the CLA that decides on whether the Founders would be a true National Championship or an Invitational tournament.

If was to change to National Tournament would like to see an Invitational still be ran as well.

  1. Provincial Tournament

Warrior’s have run a tournament in the past but has not been supported by AB teams due to addition cost of approx $6000 for the weekend. Warriors will decide if they still want to try to run this tournament maybe lower entrance fees.

  1. Other Business

Rob Petz explained about a product used on floors to stop the slipperiness and would like to see all arenas use this to stop injuries.

Also strongly urge the RMLL to enforce a deadline for cuts of the Jr. A program of May 15.

Motion by Dave that the voting members of the Jr. B Tier I accept the transfer policy in its present form. 2nd Rob Petz.

Did not pass as all voting parties abstained.
